The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

I’m off to work peoples!

Have a great day.

Every couple of months, my boss will take us out for drinks and dinner after work. Today, she’s doing something before work and we’re going to a really great pancake place for breakfast before work.

Gotta admire her creativity!

I didn't know GUN was the first year present! Neither one of my husbands gave me one! 😤🤣

She wanted a S&W .357 Mag......

We do things a little different down south! 😂. For the record, she hated it. I should have sprung for the S&W .357 or Colt Python…that’ll teach me to try and fit a gun to a gal🙄

Nursing duty is coming along fine. Have helped w a couple of showers now but she hasn’t let me wash her hair yet. She gets her check up on Thursday, so I bet I get some beauty salon training manåna. Wonder if I can pass the test?

Will leave you this Santa Fe sunrise…MZ

That life experience gives one perspective. My parents were poor growing up, got married after WW2, worked blue collar jobs, swing shifts so took turns watching us kids, and were good cooks. They wanted me to get an education and I did. They were proud of me as I of them.

It gave me perspective especially around my peers who had wealthy parents! I never forgot my roots.
We're trying to instill some of that type of perspective into our children. It's a hard thing to teach when you don't live like that.
We're not poor, so they've never gone hungry and always had a warm comfortable place to sleep. We tried to make them earn for themselves, encouraged them to work, taught what savings are for. Even when we've had 'tough times' there has always been plenty. My fear is those lessons won't instill the same perspective my grandparents had.
It appears they understand the value of an education and are taking that seriously. So, I think some of it sticking.

Does your cat have a Purrrrfurred name? 🤣

My dog has a name. However there are a lot of days I refer to her as Stoopy... Don't worry, she's earned that!
Our black lab is named Twilight. Most people of a certain age deduce it's from the teen heart throb vampire movie. It's not. I got a much later start on kids than most and I still have two teenage girls at home.

Twilight was named after an equine. More specifically, a My Little Pony in cartoon form. Twilight Sparkle. A cartoon from the 2000's about magical ponies in a make believe world with Twilight Sparkle as the main character.

Everywhere we go, people assume my wife is my daughter and my kids are my grands. There is only a 6 year difference between us but she looks way younger than she is and I look like a sack of peanuts standing next to her.

But I call our dog smelly. She's very well trained. And hates men. From behind a door she sounds like she's 200 pounds and tearing a whole in the floor trying to get to you. All I have to do is call her, command her to come and that sends yet another message. But, alas, she is a lab so the most she's ever done is smell a crotch and run and hide behind my wife.

It’s a tough job. Unless you’ve seen the struggle or lived the struggle. Our kids are the same. Both of us came from humble backgrounds and we’ve attempted to instill that in our kids. Like you said, they’ve never wanted for anything, so did they really get the message? I think so. My son and his wife are living within their means. Then again, she grew up raising her brothers as the oldest girl w an alcoholic mother…
