Schumer is being roasted by his fellow democrats over deciding to vote for the CR spending bill after announcing that he wouldn't. His political error was in the reversal to begin with, but that reversal was soundly based. You see by shutting down the government all but the essential employee's would be sent home. In the past not many would notice that fine point, but with DOGE in the mix it would allow Trump to point out how few employees would be needed to provide essential services. In other words a shutdown would play right into Trumps hands.

What's amusing here is that instead of being given credit f or making the best of two bad choices his party if threatening to 'primary'

Schumer made the Obama (and Bill Clinton???) blunder - and for the same reason.

Obama caved to the republican terrorists over the Bush tax cuts after they said they would cut social benefit programs like SNAP, etc, which would have had a profoundly detrimental effect on the most vulnerable Americans & the country as a whole because the economy was particularly fragile at that time thanks to the George W. Bush / GOP financial crisis.

Schumer (etc) caved to President Musk (and DonOld) because shutting down the federal government would have had a profoundly detrimental effect on the most vulnerable Americans & the country as a whole due to the economy being particularly fragile right now, thanks to DonOld’s trade war & tariff debacle.

One would think both Obama and Schumer made the right call, but all they did was convince the republicans that Democrats were / are weak and could always be bullied into conceding / caving in the interests of the nation.

It’s time for the Democrats to throw the republicans a curve ball and play hardball.

Democrats tried to play nice by putting forward centrist candidates over the past three decades (plus), and it got them nothing. Worse than nothing, it got them President Musk (and DonOld).

I hate to say it, but I’m getting to the point where I am willing to support the most combative populist social progressive that the Democratic Party (and their infrastructure) is willing to support.

Sure, there might be some “temporary hardships” from the open political warfare and the effects on the economy from having two ZERO compromise opposition parties, but Americans (and especially MAGAts) are cool with hardships, RIGHT???
