The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

Wife is in Pre-op…we said our prayers and goodbyes, so had a minute to log on. Total knee replacement today for her.

Thanks Lili for the in depth review! That makes me feel a little better…no I lied…a LOT better! 😘. Talked to the nurse yesterday and she immediately put me on low dose aspirin. They also wanted to put me on either Atorvastatin or Rosuvastatin? Any good info on either one of those? The nurse didn’t elaborate much as we spoke over the phone and I basically know what both do. I’ve also been referred to a cardiologist and I asked for my mom’s doc. She likes him and I figure why not keep it in the family? He’ll know our family history pretty well.

So…I guess I get to join the wonderful world of meds. I’ve never been on a continuing med regime…ever…so this is a wake up call. Time to start quading my lutes out in the back yard! 🤣

Thanks again Lili. Our resident nurses here are my trusted source of all things medical! 😻🩻🏥. Love y’all!

I’ll leave you with the McCauley Hot Spring at Jemez Springs, NM…have a great day and hopefully get an early start to the weekend!

I hope your wife's surgery went well, H!

Statin drugs are used to reduce cholesterol and other fats from the blood. You should let your provider know if you drink more than 2 alcoholic beverages per day, have liver or kidney disease, or thyroid problems. They're both well known statins. Atorvastatin, known by the trade name Lipitor, is a bit older and has had a good track record. Rosuvastatin, or Crestor, is a newer drug. They both will lower the LDL, or bad, cholesterol. HDL, or good, cholesterol can be increased with exercise.

Low dose aspirin has been used as a mild platelet inhibitor for years. Newer studies have shown little to no correlation with blood thinning. However, I have seen patients with stroke or heart attack helped by aspirin. I don't think it hurts to be on it and it might help.

Just try to remember, it is possible to "out-eat" your meds! They won't save you from a bad diet. There's a reason fast food is called "heart attack in a sack!"

It absolutely is child abuse! I vowed I would never do that to any child of mine. Unfortunately, I wasn't lucky enough to have any. So, I became a dog mom. Even with my dogs, if they refused a certain food, I would take it up and try something else. My mom's feeling was "If they get hungry enough, they'll eat it." 🤬

It is amazing kids can turn out decent with the shitty things our parents did to us...

Yep!!

Telly landed on his feet! He, and his people, are lucky! 🥰

Telly is prone to get Foot Stuff. He stands in the barn when he needs to be outside. Their feet get sensitive when they stand where they pee for too long. Then you have to clean out the hoof and put stuff on it. He likes the attention and will willingly hold up his feet to have them worked on.

You can also put him out of the barn and set one 2x4 across the door and keep him in the pasture. Now, he was a jumper, but he'll act all oppressed by a piece of framing lumber which he could easily jump.

Silly old poodle.

I encouraged mine to try stuff and to find out what he likes on his own.

Cats will not eat some things. They will refuse and starve themselves into liver failure. If one has several cats and everyone is happy with the food selection, then it gets left alone because all are eating.

I hadn't seen that put as succinctly. It should get more play.

I had never heard the bolded part.

A lot was ignorance on their part(s).

A bit felt like vindictiveness.

I was at breakfast with Dr. Tyler yesterday.

DT: My mother was right-handed and hit me in my left ear.

WT: My mother was right-handed and hit me in my left ear. I'm a bit deafer there than the other side.

DT: No I didn't.

WT: I see . . . .
