Who needs Congress?

What does the constitution say about war powers? This should be good…Yah, screw that pesky constitution...amiright? Dictators are more fun anyway

They are applicable during a time of declared war.
Perhaps you can explain who does that for the class.
The law’s text frames it as a means of guaranteeing that “the collective judgment of both the Congress and the President will apply” whenever the American armed forces are deployed overseas. To that end, it requires the President to consult with the legislature “in every possible instance” before committing troops to war.
The resolution also sets down reporting requirements for the chief executive, including the responsibility to notify Congress within 48 hours whenever military forces are introduced “into hostilities or into situations where imminent involvement in hostilities is clearly indicated by the circumstances.”
Additionally, the law stipulates that Presidents are required to end foreign military actions after 60 days unless Congress provides a declaration of war or an authorization for the operation to continue.-History.com
LolNo, we’re talking the War Powers Act of ‘73…
The Constitution doesn’t precisely give war powers. It’s been up to two branches to justify how they exercise those powers. Use of force is invoked through both legal and political debates.
Along came the War Powers Act or Resolution in ‘73. Of which the president is undertaking this action.
Now, out of those three bullets above, which ones did the Dahli Bama regime (peace be upon him) abuse or totally disregarded? The most egregious was the 60 day limit, hint hint.
Stop clutching your pearls…every president has invoked this power since Slick Willie.
Reactionaries were always saying, "We need to get back to Constitutional rule." Now that they have an authoritarian who does what they like they do not care about the constitution.Autocratic fascist is autocratically fascistic!

Really? We were at war w Syria? Libya? Interesting….Lol
We aren't at war. That is why the only time this act has been used was when we were at war.
But use whatever pretzel logic you need to sidestep basic facts.
And the specific act I'm talking about is the Alien Enemies Act of 1798.
The act wasn't used during those conflicts.Really? We were at war w Syria? Libya? Interesting….
Were, past tense. So what does the past have to do with today? Care to find those declarations of war while you're out looking for your brain. Well....moron??? Oh wait, moron is not correct, "scarecrow's more like it.Really? We were at war w Syria? Libya? Interesting….
No. It hasn't been used since world war two.It most certainly was. Better go back and see how the Dahli Bama (peace be upon him) used them in the conflicts I mentioned.
Biden should have taken out the Houthis 18 fucking months ago.It most certainly was. Better go back and see how the Dahli Bama (peace be upon him) used them in the conflicts I mentioned.
This is what happens when a President sidesteps the law by using temporary powers....eventually, it is no longer in effect.Totally shocked that a judge said Trump overstepped.

In his latest move to clamp down on illegal immigration and immigration more broadly, President Trump has filed a presidential action invoking the Alien Enemies Act of 1798, a seldom-used law that gives the president authority to detain or deport nationals of an enemy nation during wartime. It's only the fourth time in American history a president has used the act — and the first since World War II.
Fuck da judge.Totally shocked that a judge said Trump overstepped.
