Background: In the early 2000s, Walmart effectively resourced most of its suppliers from US based manufacturers to Chinese peddlers. Walmarts' purchasing power was so immense that they dictated what suppliers could charge for a product....if they wanted to sell to Walmart. Most US suppliers could not make a profit at that price point. By 2018, Walmarts' suppliers were 80% Chinese.

When Orange Julius Caesar first enacted tariffs on Chinese imports, his handlers were told in no uncertain terms to exempt the Chinese products that fill Walmarts' shelves. After all, the typical Walmart customer was also a low-intelligence MAGA voter.

Walmart was spooked, nonetheless. They recognized the need to diversify supply chain source, to insulate themselves from arbitrary and capricious tariffs enacted by authoritarian America regimes. They downsized their manufacturing source percentage in China to the current 60% today, and created a brand new supply chain in India.

Walmart was thus largely insulated from Chinese tariffs until this week. Don Cheetolini, no longer eligible for re-election, told the Department of Commerce to tariff errything coming from China, even the Walmart stuff. Fuck those MAGA voters, der Pumpkinhead Führer no longer needs them, they've outlived their usefulness.

Walmart got stung, but the 20% outsourced to India turned out to be a genius move and gave Walmart some room to manuever in a time of Mango Mussolini's "Ready Fire Aim" tariffs.

Walmart called for a conference of all major Chinese suppliers and gave them an ultimatum; you can immediately lower your prices of merchandise that you sell to us to the point where it is unchanged for our retail US customers...or we will put you on the list to be the next product outsourced to India.

The producers grudgingly agreed, but when whining to the Chinese government about how unfair the round eyes' new policy was.

Chinese government publicly announced it yesterday that it would establish talks between their senior trade officials and senior Walmart supply chain officials to discuss the unfortunae 'new barriers to trade".

Make sure you have enough (Chinese) popcorn from Walmart onhand to watch this upcoming debacle.

Deluks666, Roary and Rotalard upped their style game bigtime when they started getting staff discounts on the Indian made clothes.

One of them will be by after closing to attack your spelling… hold it, you get a bye on that, right?

Fuck those MAGA voters
OK. I don't know her votes, but she is a Walmart shopper:

Walmart will die like all the megacorporate dinosaurs and be replaced by smaller and more adaptable businesses with shorter supply chains, less management, and more on site store owners. Tariffs are a friendly nudge compared to the chainsaw surgeries the corporations will have later. One of the intermediate steps is dollar store chains expanding and taking many of Walmart's customers.

Walmart already destroyed those smaller more adaptable businesses....just another of your failed promises of something that will come to be....

That is part of why I despise Walmart, Amazon, etc. Small local businesses will revive as anything else becomes unsustainable and bankrupt.

Walmart spent decades gutting American manufacturing by shifting its supply chain to China, only to get caught in the crossfire of a trade war it never planned for. Now, with tariffs hitting its Chinese imports hard, it's using its Indian suppliers, as a backup plan to pressure Chinese manufacturers into lowering prices. The same system Walmart exploited is now turning against it, forcing last-minute negotiations with Beijing. Its customers, many of whom cheered these tariffs, face the consequences at the checkout line.
