The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

I think so also. Heavy Cavalry horses when that was thing and later caisson and cannon haulers.

My wife’s grandfather was in one of the last true horse cavalry units, the 1st Cav, before WWII. When Pearl was bombed, they traded in their horses for Mech, and he started his island hopping journey till wounded in the Solomon Islands.
Shire horses carried knights

Gasping…are you saying there are gentlemen on Lit who don’t send Gentlemanly DMs to lovely ladies like you @Missk_
I know what this site is but first message being asked to be a c-- dumpster....sorry for the language my gentlemanly grey..... is not sexy or hot.....

now you know why this thread is such a port in the storm.....

Omg I will love them all.... there is a rescue called gentle giants where they rescue drafts and draft crosses.... some of them have been dumped for slaughter after working for the Amish for years and years..... because they aren't taken care of and break down.... you should see their hooves.... people should be shot...... I am no fan of peta but if you are gonna have an animal take care of it

Calypso and Geezer Poodle were both rescues. Telly was Calypso's bud at the place they came from, so she got a two-fer. Baby Poodle was the result of his mother's slutty behavior - wasn't in the plans. He and Telly are about the same age (24). Horses are all over Out West, and the older ones are unwanted quickly.

The Amish take reasonable care of their livestock, but they are work engines and not pets by a long shot.

Get a Friesian! Warhorses I’ve been told.
Percherons i believe were used for similar...I may be wrong

It looks like Friesians are Calypso-sized and Percherons are fawkin' yuge. Like a ton yuge. They can go through some oats, I reckon, but he wouldn't care if you rode him.

e/t/a: I always give Telly kind of short shrift. He's actually a touch bigger than Calypso was. Pushing 17 hands and maybe 1400 pounds.

Also, if the horse is free, it is priced right.

Yeah.... but even the best engine needs maintenance ....

Telly (Calypso's buddy and Ethyl's victim) will happily stand and allow himself to be brushed. Calypso would, too, if I were the one doing it. The landlady doesn't groom them. They're all short-haired so it really doesn't matter much. At this time of year, Telly has mud where he rolls on the ground and grinds it in.

I bet he'd stand still for a bath, too.
Thems is good animals!

Relativistic effects excluded, time is a constant independent variable.

Relativistically speaking, time is not constant. Or is this subject taboo here in the ol' spoon?

Maybe I'm just wasting time on the subject, dealing with the time change, while the dog says it's time to get up... ;)🤣
Doesn’t time speed up or slow down in a black hole??

Askin for a friend of course….

Time change day - bah! Humbug!
Not a fan of losing an hour.
slept 8, up 1 & already feeling the need for a nap! ☹️

Yasssss!

Is that good or bad???

I find tasks like that meditative for me and massage therapy or circulation stimulating for the animal.

Up and at 'em time.
Enjoy your Sunday, all! 🥞 :coffee:
Are you back home L2?

I just chainsawed and rolled that tree out of the trail that was blocking our way the other day.
