Carl Dean, Dolly Parton's husband of 60 years died this week at 82. He was never in the music business nor wanted to be and stayed well out of the lime light. But he supported Dolly in everything she did. To capture the heart of such a loving person as Dolly he had to be something special. As someone who has been married for only a few years less than Carl and Dolly, I can understand her grief and grieve with her.

He reportedly had Alzheimers, a really awful way to go. My heart goes out to Dolly, of course.

Sounds like a wonderful marriage. Not sure what it has to do with politics unless you’re making a point about the wisdom of professional entertainers who steer clear of politics in their public lives. Ms. Parton seems to respected and admired by industry colleagues and fans on all sides of the political spectrum.

Everything, even here, doesn't have to be about politics, unless one has a single-track mind. Dolly is loved by all sides because she is what she is, a loving, giving person of talent. Carl must have been as special to capture the heart of such a person. Paying homage to goodness in the world transcends such things as politics. And any lesson to be had from that is up to the individual to find.
