I’ve been playing some weird west games lately and I’d kind of like to see if some ideas could be spawned in a setting like that:

Short explanation: weird West is like a western but weird things can pop up in it of the magical or super science variety.

So for example:

Man making a delivery across the desert finds a town that isn’t supposed to be on the map. Needing to get some shelter they head in and find the town doesn’t seem to have anyone in it but it has coin slots in every building. Putting money in will have a service provided or an automaton will show up to serve him. So for a few coins he gets his horse stabled, gets a room, and then a drink. While waiting he sees a sign going upstairs that very bluntly says “Whores here” and a menu that shows the activities he can request (as an aside look up an old west brothel menu: blunt as hell while also being highly specific). He finds a number of comely automatons who become a lot more lifelike when the coins are put in…but who put a coin operated city in the middle of nowhere?

Or:

Our lead, a tough as leather woman who looks older than her actual age, is a hired gun who is being asked to be a bodyguard for a group of socialites who want to head out and see the “real” Wild West. Lead tries to entice them to stick to safer sights like a lake that a dying horse can walk into and come out young, or a tree that remembers the name of everyone passed by, but her clients, including one woman she charms into bed (or the other way around), demands tho see the real stuff, so lead takes them to places where failed magical rituals occurred, borders between the world of the living and the dead and of course places where the temptation of lust and debauchery become too great for her clients, so she has to solve problems with lead and Magic,

So yeah: coming up with a weird west story isn’t hard, but one that’s equal parts erotic can be tricky.

One short one I thought up though:

There’s a brothel lonely men go to where they say the workers there can take the form of your true love for a night. Widowers and widows go there for comfort, young men and women who wish to get a clue as to who their love is go there.

So for the story: someone (I was thinking like a mine owner or a killer) goes there and the woman who meets them is more splendid than anything else and wraps them in her arms and the next day they are found dead. The only true love they had was death and greed.

Have you ever seen Briscoe County Jr(1993-94)?

What about The Wild, Wild West (1965-69)?

If you're in to the horror / supernatural aspect of the Wild West, try the comic series The Sixth Gun. There are six supernatural revolvers (although they can take any form).

The first strikes with the force of a cannonball.

The second spreads the fires of Perdition.

The third spreads a wasting disease.

The fourth revives those slain by it into mud golems under your command.

The fifth repairs all injuries and staves you from death, but you must drink blood nightly. Also, separating the hand holding the gun from the rest of the body causes a fatally weird effect ...

The sixth gun tells you the future constantly, and can destroy the creations of the other guns (the second ability might be mine .... doing a draft).

The Wild Wild West is a little overrated (still stuck on S1). I'm amazed James West didn't contract syphillis.

I think it's an overall marvelous setting. The wild west is good, but adding steampunk or magic to the situation allows you to create a new world that doesn't include the darker things that really happened back then.

Oh yeah. I watched reruns of WWW and I liked it a fair bit and Brisco County jr. i used to do a marathon of each year after I got the DVD set. I often get nostalgic for that period of TV and Brisco County Jr was such a fun series

Thought up an idea and I might try (with some help) and actually make a game to play it as an RPG. I got a friend who might be able to help translate it to that.

Anywho: one thing you’d read about happening at old mining camps is miners paying for women to come marry them. Using their resources to pay for women out east to move west and marry them.

Only thing is: in the setting the miners are closed off from the east and much of the west. They have riches aplenty from the strange alien veins but they are utterly alone or the few places that they can contact realize their weakness and give them an insane rate of exchange for even a night of affection.

…then comes a strange man with a massive wagon which he reports is full of women eager for husbands. All he asks is a for a paltry fee and a homestead be built for the prospectors’ wives (he even jokes that as long as each wife gets one homestead they are free to marry as many as they like).

Of course the men are suspicious (in the setting the territory they are in is LITERALLY closed off from the world and is full of strange happenings so they already know the women are probably not human or at least not normal women) but they are so lonely they agree.

Only question is: what steps off of the wagon to meet the men?

  • Deer Women, who appear as beautiful pale women with feet and legs like the hind legs of a deer, who punish and murder adulterers and abusers, but are kind and loving to good men.

  • Female sasquatches, looking for love

  • A second batch of male prospectors who were also promised brides! But whatdya' gonna do, you're married to another man and have a homestead now, might as well make the best of it!
