The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

I mostly follow this diet, and I do intermittent fasting, which works pretty well for me.

Problem is, everything revolves around my meals and eating and I eat at 10-noon and then if I don’t eat at around 6 -630 PM, I get really hangry.
Hi @Wonderer67 thanks for the message.

I try to avoid eating the main meal after 6pm.
Good morning all.....
What's your feelings about eating before or after exercise?
I'm a low carb high proteins kind of guy but I've been stuck around my current weight for months.
Sports nutritionists recommend getting high quality protein into your body within an hour of your match / workout.

We all eat too many carbs. If you don't burn them off they get stored as fat.

Today I’m feeling better, thanks for asking. I got ahead of the strep throat we had in the office, but my sinuses are still going nuts.
Drink lots of water. Try to do some saline rinses in your nose. If nothing else, mix some salt in warm water. Put your fingers in it and sniff up the drops. Repeat as desired. It will help keep your mucous membranes moist and should help you feel better.

I used to keep a wee squirt bottle on the edge of the desk in case he came in to mess with the old cat. He did one night and I doused him and he only ran a short way back up the hall. I shot his butt and he hardly moved. So I got up to see.

Ethyl was sitting at the other end of the hall, and he didn't know what to do.

That was really funny.
He was probably trying to figure out which was the lesser of the two evils! 🤣🤣🤣

Had a really nice day today. Took the day off.

Started with breakfast w @Mrswonderer and @likes2watchU who is on her marathon east coast tour. Then caught up and spent the afternoon with L2 before she resumed said east coast tour.

A nice visit with a fellow litster, greasy spoon patron and team librarian!
This is awesome! 🥰✨💞

Was delightful to make this work.
Loved meeting @Wonderer67 and @Mrswonderer. Momentous event - breakfast before 10am 😆 Delicious!
Quick tour of the local area then it was time for a train adventure down to the DC area. Will spend the last leg with family.
Already had 2 storytimes, 2 homework sessions, and a card trick session.
Triple fudge brownies were a hit for dessert. IYKYK
Be well, be happy... I'll check in as time allows and back to cafe upon return.
Sounds like a wonderful trip, Likes! 🥰🥰

Turning 54 next month. Hope everyone is ok with another lurker and part-time interactor.

That glucose thing is from carbs. Swap to protein and it will go away.

Grains are a peasant food. Grains are for feeding our herd animals to fatten them up for the dinner table. They have extra stomachs and digestive methods that help them break down the grains and greens so they can get the nutrients out. We can't. We just end up passing the greens thru and storing the grains as visceral fat because we can't convert it into usable energy before it gets stored because our bodies don't have hooves or horns. (Simple descriptions)

I noticed during that year of meat and eggs only that I only had a bowel movement once a week and it was small and easy. Every bit of meat that I ate was nearly totally consumed by my body.

That protein went so much further as fuel than did carbs. Satiation lasted all day if I allowed myself to eat until I was full ( fatty meat, eggs, bacon, sausage, hot dogs). Anything as long as it was animal protein and lots of it. That one meal would last me two days easily.

It's not cheap to get started. It takes weeks to ween yourself and push all those carbs out of your system and convert your body over to using meat protein for fuel. The Keto flu is the result. After your over the keto flu it gets a whole lot easier. Your gonna have to eat a lot of meat a lot of times during the day until then.

I made two 1/2 sheet pans of bacon every couple of days and bagged up bacon in small portions to use as snacks instead of reaching for chips or cookies.

After a few weeks, it all got easier. I noticed I was leaving half my plate untouched. I was full. My mind was changing to tell me when I had enough. Fasting was so much easier and. Took less food to get there.

Beware - when you all of a sudden don't have meat, it takes nothing to start using carbs again. You don't even realize it. Grocery shopping and pantry choices were the real killers in this diet.

I can't wait to get back to making some real money again just so I can ....

Shit! Wall of text again.... sorry.

I'm into my 70s and still enjoy playing multiple sports.

I love that I can still be reasonably competitive with guys and girls who are much younger, but the real beauty of discovering sports like padel, pickleball and table tennis is that the doubles format is fun and sociable.

I have made some great friends in all three sports and (drum roll, please) we sometimes drink beer after playing!

My preferred pre-match breakfast is quick and simple: half an avocado and half a small tin of sardines, followed by a banana.

Lunch will usually centre around my green veggie soup (previously mentioned) and dinner (always before 6pm) will usually be a veggie stir fry with fish or chicken.

TV off at 9pm. Good sleep is essential. As a former night owl, I now love getting up early, feeling refreshed and looking forward to each new day.

However, if I've played four hours of sport the day before I might just just enjoy a lie-in now and again and let the healing magic of sleep do its thing.

It early for me to finish! Not even 2230 and I'm all caught up! I hope everyone has a great hump day! We're on the downhill slide to the weekend!

I'm going to try to get to bed early. I started moving back into my room today. Right now, there's product strewn all over the counter in the new bathroom. I'll think about that tomorrow! I'm going to take the first shower in my new shower and have my first sleep in the new bed I bought in flipping OCTOBER!! Tomorrow I get to see a dear friend for lunch.

Have a great Wednesday, everyone! 😘✨💝

My wife told me to stop making camera puns.
I said she should stop focusing on the negatives and develop a sense of humour!
She left me in a flash…

I asked my wife how she avoids click-bait…
Her answer may shock you!

My wife suggested I get a telescope, since I was so interested in astronomy.
I told her I’d look into it.

My wife hates it when I sneak up on her.
Also the police say I should stop referring to her as my wife.

My wife was upset because she thinks I don’t like her cooking…
So to prove her wrong I had another slice of gravy…

My wife asked me why I was doing the dishes while sitting down.
I told her it was because I couldn’t stand doing it.

I met my wife on Tinder.
That was awkward.

Woke up this morning and found I’d swallowed some feathers from my pillow.
My wife said I looked a bit down in the mouth…

So my wife told me to choose between our relationship and my career as a reporter.
Well, I’ve got some news for her.

Enjoy. Fingers crossed that your new bathroom doesn't have a leak in it!
