🫧Chloe's Curiosities Captivated🫦

Ten years ago, I would wake up with nightmares. One Litster would see me posting because I was afraid to go back to sleep and he'd call, just to tell me it's okay and he'd watch over me. He stayed on the phone until I fell asleep and, then, hang up.

Of course, that didn't work when I moved to the same time zone! But, another Litster had given me vocaroo of two bedtime stories to listen to in the middle of the night.

Now, these two were DDs, but not mine. At that time, I wasn't ready - I had other things on my plate, but I surrounded myself on Lit with little friends and Daddy Dom friends, and this community got me through that period.

(Hence my infinity tattoo with Lotus and "strength". I never want to forget about them.)

I love this for you. For anyone really. Before Lit, I had one community in the DDlg department. It was amazing how supportive everyone could be of each other with those dynamics actually in place.

I feel ya on nightmares. I have a hard time falling asleep. If I have one nightmare, I'll have them all. I love that you had someone who noticed the odd times you were active, and went out of their way to be there for you. Oh! And the bedtime stories for when those calls weren't possible anymore! Just so perfect.

I love that you shone a light on not just the importance of a partner, like so much of the discussion has been, but also a community, friends. People you trust to allow them to get to know you so they can help you through difficulties or questions or anything.

Thank you for sharing this. And the reason behind your tattoo šŸ¤— I always love hearing what you have to say on things

I can't believe I didn't comment when I read this before... but that is absolutely beautiful. 🄹🄹🄹🄰🄰🄰🄰🄰

Okay, Lore Olympus is a webtoon about the story of Persephone and Hades. It's a beautiful retelling of their story with more modern conversation and realism. View attachment 2504041
They humanize the characters of the Greek lore in ways that are entirely relatable with a unique art style. View attachment 2504039
The relationship between the two gods that shouldn't have worked, is such a journey that it's hard to put it down. The struggles they have to face are more human than deific at times. View attachment 2504038
The way they treat each other, slowly get to know each other... it's a slow burn that has many conversations that are real and necessary in an actual healthy relationship. View attachment 2504037View attachment 2504036
It has become such a popular webtoon that you can now get the graphic novel version in a bookstore or on Amazon. A series I recommend to those who love unique art, character growth, a real love story, and so much more.

I put this here because it's a story and artist that continues to inspire me in both my own art and writing. If anyone else has ever read it, I'd love to hear your thoughts. If you haven't, but want to, I encourage you!

For those like me interested, the first 9 episodes (long chapters? books?) are at their webtoons site. I'm unsure where to read the rest of it...

All three seasons are on webtoons, from episode 1-280. It looks like you have to use daily passes to unlock episodes starting at 10 after that. I didn't realize those changes. I apologize. I actually just found out they are making a TV show šŸ¤” more on this as I find out.

I also haven't finished reading the series. I know there's a lot of people who feel differently than I do. I don't know if it took a direction in Season 3 I don't know about yet. But, I love the first two seasons and the hard topics the characters had to face and how we deal with trauma.

Depression comes in many forms. When you are alone, it can hit harder simply because there's nothing around to distract you from the deepest pains. The traumas you've endured, the empty feelings that somehow weigh heavier than the feelings you can name.

How we do or don't face depression is different for everyone individual, as well as different points in our lives. These pictures are only some of the few that spoke directly to me. Sometimes we have to wallow in the pain. We have to let the sorrow wash over us, through us, around us, until we know nothing but it.

When you have someone in your life who does suffer this way, it's not always about making them feel better. Chances are, in those moments, they won't hear it anyway. But, being present, letting them know someone is there, holding them or just being as close as they will let you be, all of that is what is important. As the pain, the emptiness, the sadness begins to fade and they become attuned to the rest of their soul again, that's when you remind them of its beauty. Thank you ā¤ļø it's a touchy subject. One I may revisit. One that we shouldn't shy away from. I'm glad this could resonate with more than just me.
Chloe, you have such a beautiful soul. And your ability to share those thoughts and feelings is a gift to us all.

That photo of her sitting on the kitchen floor, crying… not only can I relate to that under normal circumstances, I was there, doing that, within the last week. Thank you for posting this. 🄰🄰🄰🄰
Brenda šŸ«‚ā¤ļø so sorry you were there within the past week. Your soul is one of my favorites. But, I'm glad we can find other people to share those moments with and remind each other how special we really are.

I don’t have words. That was both sad and beautiful. No one has put it in to words in such a way that actually made sense. Thank you for doing that.

That is a beautifully written song. Thank you for sharing it with us šŸ’™ the lyrics are hitting all the feels.

I'm glad that I could convey it in a way that made sense. The imagery was helping me get my brain get to the words I wanted to share.

This song is for all of you
This one is always a winner with these feelings. Still one of my favorites of hers. Thank you for sharing it here.
Relatable šŸ«‚šŸ’›
I'm sorry that it is relatable, but also glad that I could say something that helps remind us we aren't alone in those feelings. šŸ«‚

Since this was my topic tonight... Dear Evan Hansen is a modern day musical that touches on quite a bit of mental health issues head on. The movie had potential, and while I love Ben Platt for the OG Broadway Musical, he was the wrong choice for the movie. Regardless, there are songs that touch on a lot of what I spoke in this post. And, with the immediate amount of responses and a couple of DMs I got, I felt like this song from the musical should be shared.

There are so many types of depression, too. One reason why two people with depression may be totally unable to relate with each other.

My usual seems to be a result of autistic burnout, and oh my does that happen easily. It also means it won't go away without coming out of the burnout. Which is different than for classic burnout. And it sure as hell won't be "high functioning depression".

These messages need a ā€˜hug’ response.

As someone going thru this shit (the depression, specifically) reading this is hard but appreciated. I’m not even sure I know what I want to say here other than thank you for your kind approach to the topic. It’s a tricky topic to address well in my experience, in no small part because there are so many different reasons for the illness and what works for one can make someone else worse. The science is lacking, even when the heart, the desire to help, is very much present.

So - thanks.

If anyone needs or wants to talk privately about this, dm’s are open. Am in no way an expert, just someone else struggling thru.

Unfortunately, I've learned that the healthcare system tries to treat them all the same.

Meds. Support by consultations if lucky (or if bad enough you may get actual therapy by a licensed therapist). "Being away from work only makes it worse so back to work you must." Recommending going out to see people. Blaming for not exercising enough and not eating properly. Meds. Permanent medication if the depression is repeated enough many times.

How do you think that works for an introvert autistic person? Or even extrovert autistic, who has lost much of socialising skills due to the burnout? Or an ADHD or autistic person who is struggling to make cognitive skills stretch for even basic household stuff? Or for whom meds work wonky... And no, there's no guarantee they start looking for a reason why the depression is repeated. At any point.

Well, major depression may get better help. Or if you have major trauma. I'm not envious of my friends who have those, I'm happy that they have gotten adequate help. One of them wouldn't be alive without it. Though even him it was finally our mutual friend who pushed him on the right track so that he actually found a better mental place.

Yeah. I'm not easily looking for help from healthcare anymore in mental matters. If I think I need and may get a sick leave, then I'll go. Otherwise... I haven't met antidepressants I'd be willing to try again, though that's what they try push, so I I rather stay away.

Rant over

That’s how they are measured - follow the checklists, cuz if you don’t - if you miss a step or do something not in the list - you’re vulnerable to lawsuits. Additionally, for some (many? most? I dunno) ā€˜it just works’ and they get better. I agree with you that it’s not all good, but I can understand why they act that way.

I’ve been on at least one of every family of antidepressants sold and all their oh-so-interesting side effects, several ā€˜talk therapy’ regimes, and other treatments like esketamine and dTMS (ā€˜deep transcranial magnetic stimulation’). Missed out on electroconvulsive therapy (ECT or what derived from ā€˜electroshock’) and have strongly noped out of surgery given current state of the art implants’ cure rates. Some have made improvements, none made a cure. It’d be damn frustrating for me if I let it - and I don’t have your additional ā€˜fun’ on top with autism et al. I’m sorry you’ve had to wade through that crap.

Since I’ve had time to sleep on it…
I don’t have depression (at least not clinically diagnosed), I do have ADHD and from what I understand there are some similarities when it comes to emotionally swings. Really high highs and really low lows. The difference from what I understand are the severity and duration. Lately my lows have been super low, and the highs coming a lot less frequently. I’m doing all the things I’m supposed to, to help regulate better those swings… exercise, less caffeine, etc.. but they only work minimally since it’s a brain issue not just outside force related.
If you have depression I’m truly sorry you do, not in the form of pity but in the way of I wish you had (or can get) the help you need to help stabilize your moods.
I think you’re awesome. And hope that you have someone there (or here) to help guide you through the low times.

The lawsuit risk doesn't really exist here. It's negligent in our culture. Partly because you wouldn't gain much with it anyway (no punitive indemnifications in our legal system), and partly because missing a step in most situations won't make a case whatsoever. The doctors are, mostly, allowed to use their judgement.

However, doctors here are taught to follow certain national guidelines, which are VERY slow to acknowledge any new information.

Those guidelines don't even admit that with even with moderate depression the meds aren't too effective, and with mild depression they aren't of much use at all. And generally for an antidepressant, of 7 receiving treatment 1 will be helped. Let that sink in.... Only 1/7. The ratio is ridiculously low. For some, several different meds will work. For relatively many, none will.

I’ve been on at least one of every family of antidepressants sold and all their oh-so-interesting side effects, several ā€˜talk therapy’ regimes, and other treatments like esketamine and dTMS (ā€˜deep transcranial magnetic stimulation’). Same here with antidepressants, tried every family of them over the last 20 years. Therapists were of more help, or rather some of them. Seen more than I've tired therapy regimes. Haven't, thankfully, needed to try magnetic or others that you list - i haven't been that bad. I'm sorry you've been in need of them.

Autism doesn't necessarily make depression worse, it just makes healthcare not understand it for the most part - they assume all patients to be roughly the same. Especially in basic healthcare, which treats all but severe depression cases.
