The acting, i.e. fava beans and chianti. the mystery of it, Jodi doing her southern accent.

I don't think the film was based on a real life person.

I honestly laughed through a lot of the movie. I watched it in the theater with my sister and it scared the shit out of her and I was laughing.

We were both adults and she is even older than me so stop that thought right there people.

It did win the best picture oscar, best lead actor and best lead actress and best director oscars so I am not out in left field.

This film was released early in the year like in February and to win all those awards for such an early in the year release is/was unheard of!

It is a masterpiece!

I understand the emotions you felt and the touchy subject matter but this wasn't like a true story such as with Schindler's list say.

while all the things you are saying are true and i agree with you, the beauty of film and of all art is that it isnt for everyone. i strongly enjoy psychological thrillers and diving into the darker places of the human psyche but brenda is a more sensitive soul. there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. all she has done is express that those kinds of movies dont appeal to her. she has never even asked people not to use the memes and gifs and mentions of the films, i did. i feel like its not out of the question to allow everyone a safer space here on lit. there is no right or wrong here, its just a matter of empathizing and respecting each other, thats all.

There some truly amazing actors in it, I totally get that. This was difficult subject matter, and they made it work, perfectly. I get that. And I truly admire Jodie Foster in many different ways. And Scott Glenn is also one of my all time favorite actors. I adore that man and his body of work.
