UK: Conservative Party leader demands probe into ‘BBC’ Gaza film

Kemi Badenoch, the head of the U.K. Conservative Party, has called for an inquiry into the BBC’s recently aired documentary about the war in Gaza, narrated by the son of a Hamas minister.

Badenoch also questioned whether the public broadcaster had made any payment to the Gaza-based terrorist organization, British media reported on Monday.

In an excoriating letter to BBC Director-General Tim Davie and obtained by the Daily Mail, Badenoch demanded the launch of a probe into any “potential collusion with Hamas” and “the possibility of payment” to terrorists.

The BBC has removed a documentary about Gaza from its iPlayer streaming service while it carries out "further due diligence" after discovering its 13-year-old narrator was the son of a Hamas official.

The broadcaster has been criticised for Gaza: How To Survive A War Zone, which centred on the son of Hamas's deputy minister of agriculture.

The BBC said it had not been informed of the family connection in advance by the film's production company.

The programme had initially remained available to stream, but was removed from iPlayer on Friday morning, with the BBC saying it would investigate the matter.

The open letter, published by Artists for Palestine UK, criticised what the signatories said was a "racist" and "dehumanising" campaign targeting the documentary.
It called on the BBC to "reject attempts to have the documentary permanently removed or subjected to undue disavowals".
