I looked the kid up.
Stanley Zhong.
He attended one of he most competitive high schools in America
His unadjusted GPA (the one without bonus points for taking college-level classes) was 3.97 out of 4.00
This was good enough for him to graduate 40th in his class in high school.
He listed virtually no extracurricular activities on his applications.
He had very lackluster letter recommendations from his high school teachers.
In short, the guy was a monomaniacal drone.
Colleges, believe it or not, are looking for well-rounded students (with the possible exception of football players, of course).
This guy went to school, went home, worked on his PC, period.
There were three other Asians in the high school computer science curriculum at his high school who had higher GPAs, lower SATs but above average extracurricular activities. They all got into their college of choice.

He ended up working for Google without a college degree. His father was an executive at Google. Strictly conicidental, I am sure.

Stanley then made himself completely radioactive (automatic rejection at admission offices nationwide) by going on a national grievance tour, hitting all the major right wing news outlets and playing up the "they discriminate against us Asians!" perpetual victimhood angle.
