Question to poll the audience

Weird situation with my computer.
One key, the letter "x" does not work. I was able to type it in with the on screen keyboard.
Anyway, I tried taking the cap off and using compressed air to clean it out, tried rebooting a couple of times, tried checking window updates, ran BIOS and stuff to check and cant figure it out/says no issue.
I didnt spill soda/coffee/whatever on there either.
Figured Id call support tomorrow, but if my comp is "broken"...well, I use it for work. So I am doubly fucked.
Any ideas come to any of you?
Power off and on (not just a reboot) has sometimes cleared up otherwise weird stuff for me. Getting an external keyboard would keep you functional while you figure out the weird.

For a single key, likely hardware. Isopropyl alcohol (above 90%) might help if there is any type of corrosion. Or something in the way. Power it off and remove battery if you can to be extra safe, but should be fine. Hit it with the air after to quick dry.

Otherwise you could try updating the keyboard drivers. Or it might be a bad binding somwhere, check hotkeys to see if you have it mapped to something else (if windows does ctrl-x cut text)

Remove the battery eh?
I guess I can try to take apart this whole laptop.
Its a Dell xps 15 9530...and when looking online to replace the keyboard alone, sounds like doable but really tough.
I have powered it off and rebooted, run diagnostics through BIOS, and checked as many settings as possible. took the cap off and tried blowing can of air through it all that. there shouldnt be any corrosion, nothinf psilled, only a year and a half old laptop etc.
and mapping it to something else, i cant even type the letter...ugh...and certainly didnt consciously remap it.
i may have to call dell support in an hour or so if/when work calms down

meeting in 5 and then ill try to up content...

and then call dell if i have a moment...ugh.
Oh balls, I was hoping you'd have got that sorted, sorry about the computer.

I'm pretty much done with this day and I still have 4 and a half hours left. I hope your job treats you well.
