I've been running that Godfather schtick with my nephew/godson for most of his life and then giving my brother some shit for not making his kids watch one of the top 3 movies ever. At Mom's 90th b-day bash out (which my kids set up and I sprang for), he came over and was dutifully respectful, called me Godfather, and invited me over for coffee.


He was 25 at the time, so it was about time.

Yes! I asked yesterday, and was told PCU! Now she’s moved to a cardiac floor as she’s still in AFIB and hasn’t gone back into rhythm on her own yet. She has loved loved loved her nurses! All of them have been so attentive and sweet. We’ve also had a couple of trainees with them so that’s been fun. I haven’t had a hospital stay since I was maybe 12, so haven’t really seen the special little touches and things y’all do until now. Thanks for you’ve done and do nurses!

I'm so glad she's getting good care!

Part of my job as a professor was student clinical courses in the hospital. I loved doing that. I taught Seniors; it was really wonderful to see the progression from their Junior level to ready to graduate.

The roofs this year are absolutely miserable. Apparently everyone who has to shovel has the same problem.

I think this is going to be a bad year for snow. Apparently the big lake is really warm, and no ice. That means tons of snow. We had about 8" today...

As for the slip and fall. Nothing bruised but the ego. Heavy winter clothes saved the hide, but it still hurt!

We had a romantic Valentine's Day, shoveling the rest of the roof. That was a miserable job this year.

And to anyone who's worried about us falling off the roof, there's a pretty small drop, and lots of snow below. Wife just slid off the roof when we were done. It was like a 3' drop.

Then putting everything away, I slipped on the concrete garage floor and landed flat on my back. Forgot how much that hurts! Although all the snow gear on cushioned it pretty well.

Needless to say, we were tired enough not to bother checking in here for the evening beverage.

Apparently the entomology has something about an old Finn word that sometimes gets translated to cock, was actually a word for purse. A more correct translation is something like a "fish container", or "purse of fish".

But I figured I'd leave that out as bait for your teenage sense of humor. As the say, hook, line, and sinker...

Most Finnish fare is pretty bland. I don't recall this particular dish as being very spicy... LOL

I find a good time to go shopping is on Friday evening about dinner time. Everyone just wants to be home relaxing.

I haven't found the dating grocery store yet...

I avoid Walmart if I can... I almost beat some woman's ass for her and her smart ass daughter yelling at my mom..... my mom said " excuse me please" I had stopped to smell a candle but I scooted right in there and said in a scary er nurse voice " do we have a problem here" and when they saw me they started...I cut them off and told them that they needed to head on down the aisle or there was gonna be one...... they heeding my advice.... i can be a little scary and NO ONE is gonna be mean to my 80 year old mom or any 80 yr old in my presence.....

It is funny tho. After enough time together you can enjoy something silly like shoveling a roof together. Even trips to the grocery store and other things are the kind of things we like to do together. Why not enjoy the mundane things in life.

We did have some medical scares last year, which changed our focus some...

The good news is we only got 2 inches of snow but some sleet. The storm warning was downgraded to a watch. They are forecasting about 3 inches. I can handle that.

I hope others are ducking this crazy weather.

It warmed up into the 40s here today and started raining. Most of the snow is gone.
