Now I am somewhat intrigued...

I am currently writing a crime story, so for me, it is a corpse found in a natural body of water. So "a piña colada and a floater" would make a nice title for a crime found while on vacation story...

I am a PNWesterner, so if Starbucks is ubiquitous where you are, it is probably doubly so here. (Luckily there are a lot of local coffee places too). And it isn't me just being contrary (me? Banish the thought!). Starbucks coffee tastes burnt to me. Not too strong -- I love strong coffee. But I don't like the taste.

I like making Italian sodas with fresh syrup --I started making simple syrup for cocktails, and the variations just opened up. (Brown simple syrup (either 1:1 or a rich 2:1 ratio of Turbinado to water) is a game changer for a whisky sour). I like Myers lemon a lot for that, but I try a lot of different things, and it is a bit hit-or-miss.

I made a lime-jalapeño that went well in soda as well as in cocktails (very, very different as a soda, but good), and I make a black tea-infused one for a variation on an Arnold Palmer that I like quite a bit. Fresh lemon juice, genever, and the tea-infused syrup, shaken over ice and strained. I called it an Amanda Fucking Palmer, but, so goddamned unfortunately, I need to rename it...

Starbucks was actually, ironically, the more affordable coffee shop where I was for college. I don't particularly like their coffee coffee, but I do enjoy their fun drinks on occasion. But, a local coffee shop is generally my preference.
