Last rant for me...probably...Yes, I pretty much hated it. The way it was presented, the only reason she even gor involved was because he was rich. And then it turns out the reason he's into BDSM is because he was abused. Just a stupid cop-out of a story designed to titilate, IMHO.

One of the best parts of the Dom experience, especially with someone new to kink, is letting them have agency, giving them the power to explore and express their sexuality. It is part of what gives the sub so much power (which a lot of people who don't experience it don't seem to understand). Helping someone explore those facets is so powerful.
And in Gray, he explores her for her. It isn't her journey, it is his, using her. She has no power, no agency.

oh, let me be clear, especially after being on Lit for a few months, I know the BDSM concepts and interactions are complete rubbish. Christian Gray starts the books/movies as a complete narcissist only interested in his own pleasure and fully intends to discard Anastasia as soon as he is bored with her. but, i enjoyed the story.
