The AH Coffee Shop and Reading Room 09

better late than never, I guess
I just got a call from the VA who heard of this debacle and asked me to tell her what went on. I explained to her going to the civilian doctor who wrote two bad prescriptions in a row and the multiple trips back and forth and she said, "That's how you get glasses in the VA."

I said, "Why not give us decent insurance so we can make our own healthcare decisions, like adults."

She said (honest to God) "That's not VA policy."

I guess I'm lucky that I've never had to rely on my VA benefits for healthcare. My Federal Employees Program through BCBS has been very good to me and now that I'm on Medicare, I'm in pretty good hands.

Sorry I missed getting the coffee pot going this morning. There's one on now and the teapot is hot. I've got some chocolate drizzled croissants on the counter if anybody need a bite.

I didn;t get any writing done today since I was busy but I have some new ideas for my story that I'm looking forward to use tomorrow. Take care everyone, especially you @Duleigh.

I've got a fresh pot of coffee going so feel free to have some, @Belegon. The teapot is hot and there are donuts on the counter for those who want munchies with their morning caffeine hit.

With a fresh coating of snow on the ground, I'll be staying inside and doing some writing today.

@_Lynn_ - I've tried Dr. Pepper but have never acquired a taste for it. That's why I drink tea.

My morning companions aren't nearly so luscious.

It's the same plant I posted a few days ago, but with morning light and more flowers open. The fully-opened flowers are six inches across.

I have several other varieties opening on our window sill, and they'll probably keep coming into early March.

Having re-read my complete WIP, I made one conversation my priority rewrite. It's taken three days (so far) to get the dialog straight, but I think the improvement is large.

Lil' bit better! Fingers crossed. I didn't get up until 11:00 today. We have ice, and Mum drove home last night to beat the freeze. But I'm doing okay. Donnie is with Mum; she'll be back tomorrow (assuming she can).
Hi Millie! How ya feeling?

I started drinking Dr Pepper when my son was a year old. He's fifty-one now. Even though there's a lot of sodium in it, my doctor is fine with that since I've been in the hospital twice for having extremely low sodium. He keeps reminding me that my salt shaker is my friend.

Y'all are making me think back 30 years when Dr. Pepper was my "thirst" go-to. I recall chugging three cans in short order after a strenuous day in the yard. I was so hopped-up on the caffeine and sugar I was a babbling idiot the entire evening while visiting friends. Lost my appetite for it after that episode, and steer way clear of the so-called "energy drinks" because of that experience. It was not a good feeling.

I don't drink that much. Maybe four total each week.

There's one energy drink that I like - Mountain Dew AMP Original, a delicious Lemon-Lime drink. I'd put myself into a diabetic coma with that (if I could afford it at $2.50 a can!)

Well, I'll hit the coffee pot... I had a couple mugs already this evening. Slept HARD this afternoon, chemo hit me hard. I know intellectually that the reason is your body is already fighting internally, but it STILL surprises me that I'm so freaking tired after sitting in a chair reading and sipping tea for four hours...

edited because: Like I said, I slept hard. I thought it was Thursday morning already, not Wednesday night. As the nurses at the cancer center often say when one of us hits a mental lapse, Chemo brain is reality, it's not a myth.

One coffee down, time to start work...

Already contacted the doc this morning about menopause issues - my brain is more scrambled than usual, and when the bloke and I went to a comedy night recently, the two main performers were both going on about menopause, and bloke kept poking me and going "that's you, that is." Let's see if I can avoid the full-on psychosis that runs in the family (I've already done the postnatal version. Wasn't fun, even with lots of warning and excellent care.)

My wife has been going through this for about a year and a half. The current state of the NHS doesn't make it any easier.

Since you've had a longer time interacting with them, you may have better success than she initially did. Perseverance is required.
