Story Edits not going through on the site?

Has anyone had issues with getting story edits published? I submitted an edit earlier this month of a story I published a few years ago, waited over a week, and then tried to resubmit thinking I may have messed something up by not capitalizing EDITED in the title. It’s been another 11 days since that submission and it still shows up as pending. Is this a normal amount of time? It’s been a while since I published anything here.

Edits go to the back of the queue. Patience is your best friend here. It usually a good idea to remember the site administrators, Laurel and Manu, work with very limited resources and have a huge workload.

I have an edit that's been waiting in the queue since Jan 8. Edits are really low priority and with the Valentine's contest on I'm not expected it to get approved until that's over.

I've got a whole stack of edits that one day I will submit, all at the same time and then just forget about them, so I don't see them in the pending stack forever.

It takes at least a month, a fellow author told me. I have one in the queue as well, submitted late December.

Yep, expect about a month for edits to go through! I made one edit in December after realizing I screwed up a formatting tag in a way that made one passage really hard to read. It took 23 days for the edit to be processed, I counted 😆

Is it possible to migrate the site to something like Wordspress or similar to self manage content, or will that open the place up to be a bot site?

I can't see the site ever allowing self management of content. That's one of its strengths - the single editor and the site's content policies. Lines are drawn, and it's not hard to stay on the right side of them.

In the context of this thread, authors just need to submit the best possible copy they can, first off. That way, you don't need to edit, and all the angst over delay goes away.

Things also appear to slow down when active contests are ongoing. There are also a couple of events currently and it doesn’t surprise me that an edit takes over thee to four weeks. By now your story is probably getting so few reads that it doesn’t matter that much.

It's certainly possible in a technical sense, although it would presumably be a headache on their end. But I don't think they'll ever do that, because somebody would want to use that capacity to edit a published story and knock a few years off of their 18-year-old characters, or break some other rule about stuff the site doesn't want here. There are so many threads about probing the boundaries of what's allowable that it's a virtual certainty that it wouldn't take long for abuses to occur.

So just perma the account if it's CP.

No exceptions.

I think the longest I ever waited was six weeks. But they always get to it eventually.

In a perfect world . . .

Another site has multiple moderators, and they do sometimes come up with odd rejections based on their own tastes. A single sentence or word can make it seem anti-Semitic or anti-gay even if that was not the intention. At least they tell you exactly what they want. You can make the changes in the published text, and they will still have to approve it, but that usually can be done in a few days.
