Hi Guys

I have had two stories in Pending since the tail end of Jan. Then i checked again 2 days ago and the time had reset to 0 without me doing anything and the title of one of my stories was altered.
It was:
"Title [Parts 1-8]" and it was changed to "Title Pt. 01-08"
Is there some sort of glitch or delay? I submitted another story in the middle of all this and it got approved in about a day, so I'm really confused.

Presumably Laurel decided that you'd be adding new parts that would take the sequence above 9. So she turned "1-8" into "01-08" so that when those further parts are published the series feature will automatically put them in the right order. The change from "Parts" to "Pt." will be to keep the titles within the character limit (35 characters including spaces).

The delay was probably because she was doing this. Has the story been approved in the meantime? You can tell by the grey "pending" label changing to an orange "new" label, with the date when it will be published.

Literotica has a crude and (AFAIK) not-wholly-undocumented feature where it tries to collate your stories into series automatically.

If you end your titles with "Pt. #" or "Ch. #" (and possibly others?), where # is a number or a dash-separated range, it will put those stories into an automatically managed series. Story in a series can be navigated more easily (there are automatic links between chapters), so this is a desirable outcome.

Your title didn't fit the mold and Laurel changed it manually so it does. So this isn't a glitch; whether or not it affects the pace at which you get an actual review is anyone's guess.

Thanks for the response! No it hasn't been approved yet, still just sitting there with the pending marker since the 8th. It makes sense that the title was changed, makes less sense why it was changed and not approved or sent back :/

It makes sense when you consider the site sees this constantly and knows what to do, with regard to the auto-series feature (which has been around for at least a decade). Quite simply, it's an alphanumeric sort, where 01 comes before 10 - so when you get to chapter 10, the whole thing stays in sequence.

The fact that this has been done means your story has been processed and will go live soon. Laurel staggers releases so every category gets a regular feed. Your story is still be in the queue. Patience, grasshopper ;).

Probably this. She did it to me, once, when my submissions seemed like clockwork, for three of the chepters.

If you actually used brackets in your title, that may be why it had to be changed. I don't think those are allowed in normal website addresses (the Lit page address for a story generally seems to be auto-generated from the story title, with a number appended if the name is already used). The others who mentioned the slight change in the numbering style are probably not wrong, though!
Regarding the time reset, you may want to directly message Laurel here in the forum and ask her if that is a glitch or error. It's happened to me on a few occasions, and I think they were all instances where the story had been approved but some box didn't get checked or something to give it a publish date. I think that's likely in this case, since she went to the trouble of reformatting your title.

The URL-friendly story identifiers don't include any "special" characters like this. My latest entry had several dots in it, and even though they are perfectly allowed in the path part of a URL they were stripped out. It seems like it's just the letters (lowercased) and numbers, with spaces replaced with dashes and a possible dash-number appended at the end in case of conflicts.

Thanks, that makes a lot of sense. I'm going to give it a couple more days and message her. How do I do that btw? I'm pretty new to this site. :)

Click on the envelope at the top of your screen, select "Start a new conversation" and enter "Laurel".

Good luck!

Sounds like a glitch or a mod tweaking the title format. The reset to 0 days is weird, but Literotica’s system can be quirky. If the new story got approved fast, it’s probably just backlog or tech hiccups. Hang tight, or maybe nudge support if it drags on. Good luck!
