I haven't. In my birth language Laurel means Bay Leaf, so my brain can't compute it as a given name. Same thing happens with Rosemary, which means Romero, another herb, but Romero is also surname, so...

They're both plants in English, too. Though in UK English, laurel trees are usually Prunus, not Laurus nobilis (bay trees).
