How nice to hear.... it is a lot of work to keep a marriage together across distance. I saw it with my own parents. My dad was an over the road truck driver.... my mom had a lot of work on her hands

Mine too. My dad was USAF and was sent away seemingly frequently on TDY. And, he was sent to Vietnam for a year. My mom had to manage 5 kids when he was away.

I haven't left my house since Monday and I dont plan too anytime soon.

I wish it was warmer so I could start weeding flowerbeds ...takes a lot of angst

And I think I am.gonna buy a new push mower. The one I have is old hard to.push and the pull cord always comes loose....

My yard looks so much nicer push mowed.... esp around the house and the front yard

I fired my lawn service in November. I have been thinking of figuring out how to make the lawnmower work. I have a little more time to do that.

One thing I do remember, we hadn't shifted to shore power, don't know if it was because of the date or time we'd pulled in or what. As for my part the Hull Technicians was R-Division or Repair Division and were part of the Engineering Department we didn't have anything to do with the operations of the engine rooms.

If memory services me right, they must have caught it before there was a major problem because liberty went down as scheduled. However, the guys working in the engine room still had to perform maintenance to flush out any mud sucked in as I didn't see many of them crossing the Quarter Deck going on liberty.

Ugh. I had a fitful sleep. My Apple Watch noted I had erratic breathing and heart rate. I had a rare morning nap. I am feeling better.

I'm glad you got a nap. The biopsy probably set off a minor inflammatory reaction and some pain that messed with your sleep. You should be sleeping better tonight as long as you aren't in pain.

Is the payoff worth it? I saw you mentioned a 30 hr work day. Were you awake the whole time or do you get sime sleep breaks? That is a long-ass day!

I hope it's worth it... it seems to suit my need to "push the envelope" though at 59, I don't feel that need as strongly as I did in my 30s. Lol

I do love many aspects of it. I go to work 8 times a year, seeing things most people never get to see.

It's still a "meritocracy" out here.
It's rare, but when I do talk to people from my office, it's like talking to old family members.

My off time, truly is off time.
Who else gets 2 weeks off after every month on?

Cons... Rough weather is like a bad ride at the fair that you can't get off of.
If one can't handle the solitude, it's like prison, with the added option of drowning. Lol

Honestly, I don't know if I could fit into a dry land 9 to 5 gig again.
Oh, the pay isn't too shabby either.
It all seems to balance out... my longest continuous day was 42 hours.... but many days, I do the square root of Fk'all. Lol

At a dive boat company I worked for, safety regs didn't allow me to replace an end on a drop cord, but they'd allow me to stand in 6 inches of water and connect 480V shore power in a live panel, to get the crew off of payroll.

I spent a little time in Capidichino, NAS Naples! We staged out of there for Operation Joint Guardian (Kosovo) but stayed in Pinatumara (sp?) the old Navy recreation area. The 29 story high rise was being turned over to the Italians but we stayed there and drove into Capidichino everyday.

NURSE, NURSE! My granddaughter came down with C-Diff…she’s OK but my mother called me and said she caught it? Is this possible? I’m taking her to the doc today. My wife (who’s not a doctor but pretends to be one) says she doesn’t have it, it has to be something else. Anyhow. I put my trust in our resident nurses. . Thanks in advance for any gouge!

Sticking to the theme…it got into the mid 70s here yesterday, and will return today. The Key West MZ has brought on the thaw!

It IS possible for c-diff to be transmitted person to person. How old is your granddaughter? If she’s old enough, she should be isolated. Her dishes should go directly into the dishwasher and, ideally, not touched by anyone else. Clothes directly into the washer. Anyone caring for her or touching her should wear gloves and wash their hands well.

She should have her own toilet if she can till she is better and get some bleach wipes or spray to clean...

HAND WASHING IS CRUCIAL

She shouldn't cook for people and if doing laundry and can use bleach...do.... washing doesn't kill c diff spores.....

Hand sanitizer doesn't kill c diff either...it is WASHING YOUR HANDS

After she rides in your car...wash it down with bleach wipes.... not bleach free clorox wipes..... real bleach wipes (if you can)

You can make your own bleach spray. Just use one part bleach to 9 parts water. It will make a 10% solution.

Roasted potatoes or butternut squash or ???
Honey mustard dressing
You can add whatever other veggies you want...tomatoes a little spinach some cucumber etc

Sometimes I hate how this app just drops my writing. I took my time to write a garden story from memories and it wouldn't post it - AND - I lost the whole thing. Imma have to come up with a way to transfer my writing so my window doesn't come out. Any hints?

Try writing it first in a Word document. You can cut and paste it here when it's done and you don't run the risk of losing it.

You're on the PNW, right? It would be like not going anywhere if it's raining there.

Rain is a bit easier to navigate than snow and ice! If we get an inch or two, the schools go into late start schedules!
