President Dumbfuck said his administration will investigate a high-speed rail project in California that, if completed, would connect San Francisco and Los Angeles with several stops along the way.
“We’re gonna start a big investigation on that because it’s– I’ve never seen anything like it,” he said. “Nobody’s ever seen anything like it. Nobody has ever seen anything like it.
"You take an airplane – it costs you $2. It costs you nothing."

Shhh!! Do you not dare to tell your president about our way of living... Because.. it would truly suck if he started to steal our living standar.... Oh wait. 😂😂😂

If it were not because this is real.. and that guy is ruling by decree(!): Then it would be interesting.. even good material for a movie.

But, bloody hell... It is reality?!

Which has made me wonder, just how many of the profiles on the Politics Board are actually Russian trolls. 🤔
Hybrid wars are fought on many levels.

"Nobody has ever seen anything like it"? Does he know nothing of the HSR systems of Europe and Asia?
You know as well as I - and everyone else for that matter - when he says "Nobody has ever seen..." or "A lot of people don't know...", he's talking about himself. And he doesn't know a damn thing about the world outside the US (or much about inside it either).

'There are so many countries in the world. People don't know how many.'
'Nobody knew health care could be so complicated.'
'Nobody could have seen the coronavirus outbreak coming'
'Nobody really knows climate change is real.'

So do the anti-Trump brigade here claim Trump is saying it costs literally $2 or literally nothing?

You gotta pick one if you're going to play the 'he means it literally' game. 🤭😄🤣

He's the one who said it, ask him which it is.
And it really isn't contradictory to say he meant both literally. When you throw out an extremely low price like that, "nothing" is often used as another word for being very cheap ("I got my car painted and it cost nothing - only a hundred bucks!"). Now, we all know you're going to take this and run it through your usual rigamarole of how we don't have any way of knowing what he was thinking and he's not responsible for other people interpreting his words and blah blah blah, but even you can't deny $2 and $0 are equally absurd claims for the cost of a plane ticket, whether they're really equal or not.

I'm not one who took those figures literally.

Glad you understand the context then. The word you're looking for is speaking 'figuratively'.

Anyone who thinks when Trump said "two dollars" and "nothing" that he was speaking literally is either delibrately misinterpreting or demonstrating an almost alarming level of ignorance.

The investigation announced by Trump is good news for Californians who dislike wasteful government spending. When voters approved the project, it was estimated to cost $33 billion and connect LA and San Francisco by 2028. Then the cost overruns and schedule delays snowballed. The latest price tag is now estimated to be >$135 billion with *partial* completion at some unspecified date in the 2030s. Nobody has any idea when it might actually connect LA and the Bay Area, or how much that might cost. When Jerry Brown was still governor six years ago, the estimate for the full connection was $350 billion. And if it ever does get completed, it won’t be anywhere near as fast or cheap as a flight. The project has been is a colossal failure.

This is pretty much exactly what Trump said.

But the mentally challenged heard Trump say "two dollars" and "nothing" for flights, and since they lack the intellectual capacity to understand he was speaking figuratively and relative to such enormous costs and cost overruns, they pounced on those words thinking they're showing Trump is a 'dum dum'.

But all they're really showing is they think they're sitting in a sandbox chewing on pine cones, when it's actually a litter box and those aren't pine cones.

And in your very next post...
This is pretty much exactly what Trump said.
Hmmm...

By the way, no one here used the word "literally" before you did. The point was - and is - that Trump simply thinks airline tickets are extremely inexpensive when, for the great majority of people including most of his supporters, they are not.

Why, when HSR projects in Europe and Asia have been so successful?

...when compared to the enormous costs and cost overruns of the infrastructure project he was talking about.

Thanks for playing. 👍

That’s the question millions of California taxpayers deserve an answer to. Hopefully the federal investigation will get to the bottom of it.
The Trump administration investigating gross misuse of taxpayer dollars and government waste. Little wonder they tried killing him more than once.
