They introduce this legislation pretty much every Congress
Insightful. They introduce this legislation pretty much every Congress
It is. Massie has introduced it at least four times already.Insightful
Republicans have introduced legislation to abolish the Department of Education multiple times since its establishment in 1979. While there isn't an exact count, notable attempts include:
- 1981: President Ronald Reagan proposed eliminating the department, but Congress did not act on it.
- 1995: Republicans in the House, led by Rep. Steve Gunderson, introduced a bill to eliminate the department as part of the "Contract with America," but it failed.
- 2010s: Various Republican lawmakers, including Ron Paul, Rand Paul, and Thomas Massie, introduced bills to abolish the department.
- 2017: Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) introduced a bill (H.R. 899) to eliminate the department, arguing education should be left to the states.
- 2021: Massie reintroduced the bill, continuing efforts to dismantle the department.
- 2023: House Republicans proposed multiple bills to downsize or eliminate the department, reflecting ongoing conservative opposition to federal oversight of education
Amid the turmoil at the agency, Matt Hopson, the USAID chief of staff and a political appointee, resigned, according to a current and former USAID official who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss a sensitive situation. Hopson did not respond to requests for comment.
Voorhees was put on leave after he did not allow DOGE officials to access a sensitive compartmented information facility — commonly known as a “SCIF” — an ultra-secure room where officials and government contractors take extraordinary precautions to review highly classified information, according to three current and former USAID officials.
the nazis are in the building: conform, ignore protocols and law, bend the knee, kiss the arse or become enemy of the state... musk called the government agency "evil” —a “viper’s nest of radical-left marxists who hate America.” And, in true nazi fashion, "USAID is a criminal organization. Time for it to die.”A group of about eight DOGE officials entered the USAID building Saturday and demanded access to every door and floor, despite only a few of them having security clearance, according to senior Senate Democratic staff members who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe the incident.
When USAID personnel attempted to block access to some areas, DOGE officials threatened to call federal marshals, one of the Democratic aides said. The DOGE officials were eventually given access to “secure spaces” including the security office.

“I think it is shock and awe. They’re trying to send us emails that make no sense and are super confusing, to intimidate us or to make us run scared so we quit,” Smith said.
“They’re trying to make employees feel like they will soon get fired. And at the same time, they are trying to entice employees with an offer to pay them eight months salary if they just resigned," Smith added. "So it seems as if you’re choosing between affirmatively resigning, where they’re saying that you might possibly get paid eight months salary and benefits, or eventually getting fired.”
Subodh Chandra, a civil rights lawyer who is representing one of the employees placed on paid leave in the Education Department’s Office for Civil Rights, told NBC News that his client was appointed to the employment, engagement and diversity and inclusion council formed during Trump’s first term by his political appointees, Kimberly Richey and Kenneth Marcus. Chandra said his client is a West Point graduate, an army veteran, and a former prosecutor who is confused about being placed on leave.
“My client, a veteran, did nothing to violate any executive order. Nor did any of his similarly situated colleagues. He doesn’t even run a “DEIA” project. He was only a member of an inactive committee on which he was appointed by Trump’s own political appointees from the first term," Chandra said.
You're gonna pay, not them. Weird that Canadian MAGATs are as brain dead and activated as American MAGATs.Correction: targeting the corrupt and incompetent Canadian Federal government.
Exactly. The people suffer when the governments abuse and fail them, and those in the corrupt government institutions are shielded and even benefit. You're gonna pay, not them.
Which is in no way responsible for the fentanyl trade, which is the only thing coming from Canada that Trump has complained about.Correction: targeting the corrupt and incompetent Canadian Federal government.
You're not very good at this.Exactly. The people suffer when the governments abuse and fail them, and those in the corrupt government institutions are shielded and even benefit.
The removal of the datasets took place on Friday, as part of a governmentwide effort to comply with Trump administration orders prohibiting public communication related to diversity, equity and inclusion, or DEI, with an emphasis on anything tied to gender and sexuality.
At the CDC, that has led to the removal of public datasets like the Youth Risk Factor Behavioral Surveillance System, which ― as the official CDC website formerly stated ― is “used by health departments, educators, lawmakers, doctors, and community organizations to inform school and community programs, communications campaigns, and other efforts.”
Also gone from the CDC website is information about the Social Vulnerability Index, which officials use for disaster management planning, as well as AtlasPlus, where data on HIV, viral hepatitis, sexually transmitted diseases and tuberculosis could be accessed.
All of that is in addition to the removal of other health information, like web pages for the public about PrEP, the antiviral medication to prevent HIV transmission.
She seems to have to make more outlandish claims with every passing day to get the attention she craves.Only an idiot would equate DEI with Stalinism.
Facts can't be histrionic.LOL first thing I see is histrionics of a triggered bitch....
Fantastic.
