In his first term, trump did away with the advisory board but it was reinstated by Biden VIA Congress and federal law to serve the interests of the American people in situations related to health data.

Also gone from the CDC website is information about the Social Vulnerability Index, which officials use for disaster management planning, as well as AtlasPlus, where data on HIV, viral hepatitis, sexually transmitted diseases and tuberculosis could be accessed.

All of that is in addition to the removal of other health information, like web pages for the public about PrEP, the antiviral medication to prevent HIV transmission.

The advisory commission has no power other than its public voice, and 10 of them decided an open letter to the CDC's acting director—demanding written responses to questions about the whys and wherefores of the removals. This second term was being sold as 'transparency in gov't'; transparent, indeed, are their aims and actions, but there's nothing transparent about vital data that should be there that gets erased so it cannot be accessed by the medical, educational, lawmakers and community officials that rely upon it.
