The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

I am not caught up on this thread.

So we did the funnest, but dumbest thing as well. Open my old buddies that I deployed with from the National Guard and I are really good friends. He and his wife and Mrs. wonder and I, went to Punxsutawney to see the groundhog. We left yesterday and hit Punxsutawney and all the groundhog festivities.

Then we got up at 3 AM… the closest hotel we could find was about an hour away from Punxsutawney. We got there only to find out that all of the parking lots were full. We finally found a place and sat outside for about an hour in the cold to get on the bus to take us to where the groundhog is. We got there and over, saw all the festivities. We even waited in line to get a picture with punxatawny Phil. It was freezing cold. About 21°.

Punxatawny is all the way in Western PA, and we got home late this afternoon. It was a lot of fun. Ridiculously stupid, but a lot of fun.

I don’t think I have to do it again ever, but it was actually a lot of fun.
But now you can say you did it! 😅

Stupid animals! No, not you guys. Our animals are acting like...well, animals. I don't know what's gotten into them tonight.

First the cats start burrowing in the treat box. I end up having to turn the box around and face the opening towards the wall in the middle of the night.

Then our dog has to, uncharacteristically, go potty outside again. So I have to throw on clothes and jacket and shoes and march her down the hardwood floored hallway to go out with her. Gotta be out there with her late at night or the coyotes will try to lure her away.

Then the outside dogs start a howl. OMG, can this night even get worse?!? Again, I get some clothes on, jacket, shoes, all the while they're howling and making more of them howl. I step out onto the porch and give them my best "I'm ready to fuck someone up" shout, and they shut up....till I walk in the house. I'm not proud of what I did next but it worked.

Did someone say "club"?

I might as well put on some coffee.

I didn't go to the festivities but went to Punxsutawney just to see the town when I was working at a job up in Brookville. Great little town.

Was it just like the movie?
Sounds like there were way more people than portrayed in the movie.

You, too? I saw it pop up and thought, "Groundhog Day on Groundhog Day... why not?"

Well... it's that time again... Sweet dreams, all
No. They didn’t even film the movie in punxatawny - it was made in some quaint small town in Illinois.

Punxy is not as nice and quaint. (It’s not bad… just a different town)

The event is backsally for tourists and drunk college students. There were 40k people, so they bu you from different places, so you can’t get a spot. Lots of waiting in the cold in lines for busses. I think the locals are like, “help the local economy…. Now leave.”

And gobblers knob (I said knob) is like 5 miles out of town.

Although I was dressed appropriately. You’re outside in cold weather for a good 5-6 hrs.
