Heading to the shower now, just in case.

And it makes me happy you like Game of Thrones. I am a huge Song of Ice and Fire fan... and only a slightly less enthusiastic fan of the tv show. I still have hopes that George can break through and get Winds finished...and maybe even Spring. One thing about George... He is an extreme pantser. His stories often change in the telling and he will explore a change he enjoys even if it means rewriting chapters and chapters to make it work. I imagine something of this nature is what's really behind the delay at this point. But the entirety of Westeros would never have made it out if it weren't for this fact. The original tale that became the first novel was only supposed to be a short story centered around the finding of the dire wolves.

Now to get cleaned up.

get over it; dude will never finish it. he keeps writing other tories including more dunk and egg stuff, or fire and blood stuff...because he loves the fame and money from the show and he wont ever live up to expectations for the final 2 (or more) books...otherwise, he would have at least released winds of winter by now. been what...10 years? f that guy.

It’s like Pat Rothfuss and The Name of the Wind - we’ve all given up on getting the rest of the books from him and Martin… though it would be amazing if they pulled them off before they died. At his meet-ups, Pat trades not being asked about the next book for a reading from it. I’ve heard the same excerpt twice now over the last 5 years. Still sitting over here with fingers crossed🤞

12 years now. It's true, he might never finish it. But my gut says that if he does, then A Dream of Spring or whatever his working title is now for the last book, will not have a significant gap in publication date. I think a lot of what has him stuck is related to the ultimate ending and by the time (if, for arguments sake) he finishes Winds of Winter, he is going to have a lot of motivation to move right on to that last book. Full disclosure: I've met George a few times and talked with him so I do feel I have some insight into his writing habits. grqnted, I have not seen him in person for about 15 years, so I have no direct updates on Winds Of Winter. And he has said that finishing stories was always his Achilles heel. He gets a certain way into a story and then it starts to get complicated and he has to juggle timelines and events and he gets annoyed with it and says he has a tendency when annoyed to move to something that is still simple in his mind that he can write on without the hassle.

I really liked most of GOT. But the final season, and especially the ending, was disappointing. It was if they had different writers for the final season who had seen the earlier seasons, but who didn't pay attention very well, and wrote things that were inconsistent with years of character and story development.

HBO wanted more episodes. Benioff and Weiss apparently didnt. They fucked over the final season in 99 different ways.
White walkers? Yeah boom, done.
Rob Starks lineage and such? Didnt matter
Lannister deaths for Cersei and Jaime? Yeah super quick
Super dark episode with shit lighting? Yeah sign me up
Arya? Ummm ok sure make her jump and kill the Night King easily enough
Daenerys? Yeah make her go bonkers and burn it all to the ground, Donnie Darko style
Daario? Who??? Yeah forget about that guy
Three eyed raven stuff? Hmmm, lets barely use it
Uncle Benjen? Who?
Gendry? Yeah he is the Flash
how many more should I list...?

These huge shows with so many story lines and intricate webs of details are so often massive let downs at the end.

Lost was just as bad, but you’ll be too young and nubile to remember that one 😏
 
it was all just so rushed too. Shame really.

I started House of Dragon, but couldn't be bothered with that after the first season.

Loved GoT. And didn't hate the finale but then again, I didn't read the books. HotD is pretty decent too.

Loved Lost too. Great show.
