Oh, I'll read it. I'm not paying for it, I'll borrow from the library, but I'll definitely read it. If I dont agree with someone I'm 100% more likely to read their book/article/blog than if I were just Luke warm one way or the other. Because, then I'm directly educated on their ideas, not just recycled through a punnet I happen to agree with. I'm more equipped to discuss my disagreement in a logical & unemotional manner, and refute, and sometimes convict with, their actual words and not some recycled talking point.

In my real life, I'm involuntarily thrust into the ppolitical realm on a regular basis. I've learned it's best to be prepared.

Read EVERYTHING.
You can't learn what someone is actually about unless you hear it or read it from them yourself.
Nothing is learned from avoidance.

I'm fortunately only put into political or social conversations if I choose to be in them.
So it rarely happens.

But if I were truly curious or interested, which is rare but does sometimes happen, I wouldn't leave it to someone else to tell me what's up my alley or offensive.
 
Didn't mean to sidetrack the thread. I'm just generally disgusted by the manosphere mindset and have had the misfortune of having to listen to too many people spew that nonsense.

Everyone should absolutely read whatever they like. Any reading is better than no reading.

Lol, no such thing as sidetracked. Conversation is as important as passion, afterall. As a woman it's educating myself with the manosphere's own doctrine that has been the absolute BEST weapon to shut it down.

In my real life, I dress very conservatively and keep very professional at work. However, I'm shaped like a coke bottle, and there's only so much I can hide. So men of certain eras and ilks tend to treat me like I'm a cotton-headed-ninny-muggins, and are taken aback to find that I have a spine of iron and a sharp tongue. I can shut them down so fast, they never see it coming. A big part of that is because I read a lot of the misogynistic bullshit they buy into, and I never get upset or emotional as they expect 😁
