The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

Good late morning. I was up at midnight giving my dog his pain meds. He was having an episode. But then we both got some sleep. I have busy stoned getting up at 630 with household things. My dog seems better and going to put him on a 12 hour pain meds cycle with sleeping medicine an hour before I go to sleep.

Well the Lions defense met its match last night. And so did its offense. They had a good season considering its injuries. Maybe next year.

And I was not up early enough to catch Lilli. Welcome back Lilli! 🫂
Sorry your dog is having an episode. That must be difficult, but I’m glad that he does have meds to help him. And you.

Yes, it seems more and more that the week off is not worth it as teams come out, not as sharp. Sad to see the lions lose. (And agree, their defense was torn to shreds with injuries.)

Hope you have a great day!!

First of all…WELCOME BACK LILI! 🫂

So glad you’re feeling better! Keep getting better and doing those little nurse things you’ve passed on to the rest of us!

I’m feeling better so called back in to work after taking a couple three sick days (and maybe stretched it a day to make the celebration of life for my friend 😁) and after getting packed took the whole tribe out for supper.

KITTY UPDATE…

After hanging out and playing all day, granddaughter had to get her nap out, so kitty was let off the porch and he (upon closer inspection kitty was found to be a boy) found his way home…we’re kind of bummed, but the good news is, he might be a Visiting Cat! 😻. We’ve had those in the past and we sort of half adopted them…one so much the owner knew she was always taken care of and would just tell us she’d be away for a few days. We were already stocked up on food and treats…so maybe the same dynamic? As I asked about the kitty, I got a line of baby gibberish, so she’s very excited about her little visitor! I see animals in this girls future!

New day, and new beginnings, and new found reflections on our existence. Seeing people I haven’t seen in 40yrs will do that I guess. SWhoMBO made the comment of the relative age of the folks attending….I thought…yep, we’ll be doing this more in the coming years I’m afraid. Let’s all remember to enjoy our laps around the blazing ball! Speaking off…how about a rising blazing ball MZ…

Kitties: cats are really easy to take care of, but even easier when there’s someone else’s! But maybe that youngster will get a pet animal of some kind herself!! Hope so!

Life: yes, it rolls on, and the clock only goes one way. All the more reason to seize the day and savor those great moments. And the bittersweet ones too.

I’m hoping a crisis was averted. That’s a cool old Ford truck.

As an aside, that scene looks like a take place anywhere in Philadelphia or New Jersey with the overhead railroad and the electric wires… northeast corridor rail line and all that.

Sooooo…you had a visitation! My wife is big into dream interpretation. These visits by departed loved one she holds in high regard. I’ve never been one to put much faith in that line of thinking, but I’ve had more family than I care to mention depart the pattern over the last twenty years. Most of whom have made a “visit” to my dreams.

There have been a couple that have been…interesting. I may relay one of those on a dark cold night one of these days…
I’m the same. I’m pretty much a cynic, but I will say that I’ve had two dreams in the last week and a half since my mom passed away that she was in.

Good morning all. It’s -1 here and the wind hasn’t started yet. More snow in the forecast and colder still for the next couple of days. We may actually get above zero on Tuesday, it I doubt it. It’s going to be a drink coffee and stay at home kind of day. Y’all stay safe and keep warm.
Yeah… sounds like a great day to be home. Us too. We’re getting snow in the northeast.

What a good day maybe to watch some football or a good movie or something. Or read a good book.

Wiltshire, not a million miles from Salisbury
My wife and I visited there many years ago on our first time to England. We had a hilarious time with some English army veterans at the Stonehenge Inn.

Then we drive backroads to Bristol. I don’t know why, but I recall driving thru a town called Devizes.

Anyway - it’s a pretty area!! Welcome to our virtual pub.

I am gonna be painting today... I filled some holes ( some I made some I didnt.... need to paint over the white.....

I am gonna paint the black barn door in my tiny guest room.... It was ugly..the idea is great but they just slapped some black paint on rough wood. Didn't fill screw holes or anything. Didn't get paint in crevices. SO... I did. I am going to paint it a tan color.... but first a base coat or 2 so the black doesn't bleed through.

AND....I am painting my bathroom cabinet rosepine...right now is a greeny turquoise... a little too minty...here is the new color for the cabinet.

I bought a small dresser qnd I want to put it in a giant empty space in the bathroom. I need to shave down the legs. It is literally 1/4 inch too tall.....
That sounds like a great project!

Nice color too. You will get a lot of satisfaction from doing this I think!

Keep us posted on progress.

Don't think so.... I ask them for everything..... I will call someone... Can't figure out who....
Got any small house building contractors around the area? Usually they have younger guys on the crews that are willing to do side jobs. The trick will be getting a hold of the boss of a small crew, so he can offer it to some of his guys. Someone who knows enough to fix it right, but hungry enough to pick up a little task for a few $$$...

Damn, I am selling firewood left and right. It’s a good problem to have.

I left the house for the farm about an hour ago to fill up three empty $20 bins. (it’s literally around a quarter, 1/4 mile away.) When I went down there about an hour ago, the roads were just wet.

45 minutes later, driving up the hill, the roads were covered in about an inch and a half of snow and very slick!

Man did I have weird dreams last night.

First one was long and rambling and my mom was in it.

Second one was i was at some scenic place where we could barely see the Pacific Ocean. But then i was in Somerville NJ at the old bowling alley which had been converted to a big box store. I was reminiscing w the clerk while checking out about what the old bowling alley was like and some snot nosed kid pulled an OK Boomer thing on me (I’m gen x), then we got to fighting and he had a friend who was about to kick my ass. But then I was running along a railroad track with Iggy Pop, who was on my side.

C’mon dream analysts… what does it mean??
Wow, there's an awful lot to unpack there! So let's dive straight in.

The scenic place is, obviously, where you are now, which you love. But the bowling alley, representing the place you were raised, is tugging at your heartstrings. You are upset that it has changed but you are ready to fight to preserve its heritage, even though the odds are stacked against you. The railroad track is, clearly, your life. You know that you are not in control of this journey and Iggy is making the point that you are simply 'The Passenger!' ;)

That will be $350 please! :ROFLMAO:

Be careful......

Three days on the hill last week and another three this week. It was largely cold with mist but one day it cleared and the late afternoon sun hit the hill and I snapped this. This beauty is one of the reasons I get out here in all weathers with my boys. Winter out here can be tough but this beauty makes it worth it!
