There's an apocalypse series by SM Stirling, Dies the Fire, where something happens and nothing electric works anymore. A lot of the initial deaths were from people running out of vital medications and other seemingly trivial things. After those initial losses, then the violence comes. If apocalypse happens, I think I just want to go quickly in the first nuclear wave. I don't really want to see what comes next.
