Insanity building, as you said. We don't have the manpower to clear forests in terms of underbrush and fire fodder. Maybe offer all the homeless jobs as rangers, build some trailer parks out there, and help out: build health, wealth, and a more prosperous economy. Maybe they become like gypsies and clannish second and third-generation proud caretakers and treehuggers. One could aspire to that simple life.

I could envision California having forest management like Sweden, Finland, and Norway. The trailer clans would roam up and down state for fifty years and slowly gain a foothold on the cultivated forest instead of the current situation.

This is in fact PARTLY true (which, coming from you, is frankly rather impressive.)

Yes, building in fire-prone areas and not having fire-containment strategies is a problem, and was certainly a contributing factor here. But a lot of that was due to a lack of any zoning or building restrictions or land-use restrictions, which, as you would say, are "Socialist" and/or "Leftist social engineering," or which "Take away people's freedom to use their property." And which allowed people to build in these fire-prone areas in the first place. Better, or at least common sense, land use and zoning laws would have prevented such sprawl in these fire-prone areas but that, as you would say, is "Government overreach."

Yes, poor rangeland and forest management strategy led to a build-up of fuel which also contributed to the fire burning hotter and more intensly.

It's been mentioned elsewhere that lack of water-containment features, i.e. reservoirs, made it more difficult for fire fighters to combat the flames as well as homeowners to maintain a green space.

But obviously, the white elephant in the room- drought conditions and extreme weather patterns, caused by Carbon-Dioxide-induced climate change- was certainly a factor that you cannot discount, as much as you might wish to.

And no, the fact that there were African Americans, Gays, and minorities among the fire crews had NOTHING to do with the spread of the fires, as much as you might wish that it did. I shouldn't really have to say this, but with you.... and with some of the others on this forum, sadly it needs to be said.
