Regular looking people.

What you see as hostility is merely reasoned logic. I appreciate that facts don't appeal to everyone when they cut across a pet personal view or issue.

The rest of your original post may qualify as reasoned logic, but the phrase, "gutter-level stupid most of these scribblers" is unnecessarily harsh.

I don't think that's what they said, though. I mean, I'm positive that isn't the actual words they used, but beyond that -

It seemed to me they identified their own self as one of those, rather than calling anyone else that.

And a good track to be back on: a perfectly imperfect older woman, with a wonderfully casual pose. Often it's far better to fantasize about the possible than about the unrealizable. Too bad we don't have her face; for me that's the sexiest part of a woman's body.
Thanks. Wish I could show her face but that is a big no from her.

A word from a writer..?

Many a time and often have I complained about the bimbo/hunk mentality which seems to pervade the whole of the the erotica "industry".

As a writer, I find this worship of the body beautiful has been taken to totally absurd lengths. This site is no different, with "authors" invariably using over-the-top, tongue-hanging-out descriptions of their main characters. It has become an utter nonsense with all credibility thrown in the bin.

No story of mine is populated with casting-couch starlets. I believe in taking my reader with me, allowing him/her actually to believe... to believe that what he/she reads could actually be happening. To me, this is the very essence of taking the reader to another place - the start point - of good story writing.

Long live the boy/girl next door...
That's such a good point. For me, the erotica that is truly enriching, enticing and most enjoyable is that in which the characters are cast in a realistic way. A sense of realism that is conveyed through the dialogue, descriptions of the setting, the clothing (or lack thereof), the playfulness or embarrassment, or the surging of desire and all aspects of an encounter or a sexual activity are far more fascinating and sensually satisfying if they're conveyed in a way that actually could happen. Yes indeed....it's "the regular looking people" and/or a scenario that involves realistic interactions between people that are sexually charged in a way that is true-to-life that really draws me in as a reader (while I masturbate!)

Thanks for the back-up. I agree completely with the realism point - and hence the need in storytelling for, at least, a basis in the everyday reality recognisable by the majority of readers. Plain Janes, plain Joes... and plain settings.

It's the circumstances: the co-incidences, the accidents and the artful play of Lady Fortune which the skilled author can then bring in to form the story.

Never mind unrealistic human characters... a lot of the low-brow "creatives" posing as writers on here actually want to jazz up their output with elves, fairies and tentacled monsters from galaxies far, far away - presumably to compensate to some degree for their lack of imaginative ability. That section of the Lit. archive should bear the title "Desperation Corner"...

Feel naughty at how I love seeing others like this...
There is a lustful natural beauty that these women have. Sure, a young beautiful woman is nice to look at, but I’m a normal human being and I like a woman who is realistic. Perhaps has a few perceived flaws. Perceived in her eyes, but not flaws to mine; making her more real and attainable. And therefore more erotic than a magazine cover girl. Someone you want to have hot sweaty sex with. To savor the taste and scent of their womanhood…

Couldn’t be said better - thanks for the post
