Talk to any Trumper IRL, and it’s clear they have blinders on and are basically practicing insane loads of projection and wishful thinking. So much “people are taking him seriously when it’s clearly just a negotiation position” or “he’s not serious about XYZ…” they know full well what actual implementation of Trump’s policies will bring, they just gaslight themselves into thinking that it either isn’t going to actually happen or that they will magically be unaffected.

No, he is serious. And the Republican Party has systematically deconstructed the checks and balances in place to keep a guy like him from violently suppressing dissent.
