Why is my Reading List locked? How do I unlock it?

Thanks for your help.

The lock icons on your reading list are just meant to show if they're public or private information. Favorite Stories shows an unlatched lock because that list is visible on your profile, other people can see what you've Favorted.

Your Read Later list is private, nobody can see what you've put on there! (Though the author will know that someone has their story on a list, they won't know who 😁)

I think we do get told who put it on a list, but not which list.

Hmm I don't think that's true, I've investigated this by going back through ALL of my control panel notifications on a new story and comparing numbers. I can see user names when somebody puts a story in their Favorites or if they put them into a custom public curated list.

But I also see a total number of "In a list" when looking at my author profile page, and that number is always higher (sometimes much higher) than the number of public favorites.

Also, moving your mouse over the lock icons in your Reading List will show a tooltip that says either Public or Private, so I'm fairly confident that Read Later is an entirely secret list :giggle:
