Alternative Endings?

I wrote a story a while ago. The main character was faced with some decisions. I went with one set of decisions, and finished my story. But I kept thinking what would have happened if another line was followed, and wrote the story with an alternative ending, although I haven't published the second one yet.

I was wondering, is it possible for the moderators to enable some kind of interactive story option, where the reader can decide which line the story follows? I believe enabling the reader to interact with the story has the potential to make stories more interesting.

Also, if that's not possible, can I publish my second story (with the alternative ending) as a new story?

I’ve never seen any interactive element like that, and since Lit does not support links in the story text, I doubt it’s possible currently.
If I were you, I’d try to write it as three stories: part 1, which ends in a choice, then urge readers to choose either part 2a or 2b.
No idea if it would work, and I can say for myself that part 1 would have to leave a solid cliffhanger for me to continue.

Another way would be to divide the story into chapters, with a note at the end of part one to choose chapter 2 or 3 for the preferred path.

I like the general idea, I think it can have potential if done right, but it can just as easily turn into a confusing mess.

As for the last question, I think it would work, especially if you call it something with alternate ending in the title and make a note to moderators in the submission form.

OP: you might want to check out the Interactive Story Games feature that Lit introduced last year. I've never used it myself, so I can't promise it's what you're looking for, but it might work.

Otherwise I second the suggestion of publishing both endings as separate parts.

I would publish all parts of the story, with both endings, as a single submission. When you get to the branch point, you write, as the author, something like, "And now, dear reader, you must make a choice. Does she suck his cock, or does she ask him to fuck her up the ass? If you choose cocksucking, scroll down to ENDING ONE. If you choose anal, scroll down to ENDING TWO.

Or, you could investigate the CHYOO forums of the Lit Forums. I'm not exactly sure how that works, but it sounds like it might be up your alley. That might be what @StillStunned was referring to.
