One sees a lot of complaints about that.

But a right-wing political culture in any military establishment is an ugly thing indeed.

Ugly and extremely dangerous.

Anything that pushes the institutional culture away from that is worth doing.

I have a few thoughts on this subject, being a veteran of 4 years in our Air Force. First thought, anyone pushing the ultra liberal wildness that is rampant in today's military obviously has never served. Second, discipline is a necessity that is undermined by a "man" who thinks he is a girl, just to wave his dick in a girl's barracks, or bathroom.

This came to my mind recently when I was reading The Glory and the Dream, by William Manchester -- specifically his account of how the U.S. Army broke up the Bonus Army demonstration in Washington in 1932. As he describes it, the officer corps of the time was horribly racist and authoritarian -- one officer wanted to exile the Bonus marchers to an island in Hawaii, together with "those of inferior blood."

And I've also read that a general of that period, maybe MacArthur, wanted to "shoot our hyphenates." That would include everybody not Anglo-Saxon.

Chelsea Manning is better than you.

Your a fucking moron

And this attribution of instances of military incompetence to DEI is dishonest nonsense.

When you don't understand what a military is or is for.......

DEI threatens one of the last "safe spaces" for manly-man "alpha males": the military.

Most of the hardcore right grew up watching manly-man "alpha male" movies about manly-men going to war against enemies of Murica. The movies portrayed military units as brave, white men (occasionally a token black man). All the generals were stern white men with craggy faces.

Even as late as the Vietnam war we had a large percentage of men in the military, largely due to the draft.

Nowadays we have a military that represents by-and-large a cross section of America, women serving in roles they used to be denied. West Point started accepting women back in 1976 and the avalanche began. Naysayers scoffed "they can't do PUSHUPS!" (the truly clueless regard the PT test number of pushups as the single biggest success factor in the military).

Side note about PUSHUPS: Retired General David Petraeus graduated first in his class at West Point. Academic achievement and GPA doesn't matter to a certain kind of military member. He can also routinely knock out 81 pushups with perfect form in 90 seconds. That gets their attention.

Anyway, with women, gays, non-whites and yes, even a random transsexual here and there now serving in America's totally volunteer armed forces, white males feel threatened that their last bastion of manliness has been breeched.

They want their old-version white male military back. Pete Hegseth pushed hard for a return to an all-white all-male military every weekend as a Fox "military analyst" and even wrote a book about that. His "return to past glories" fantasies are one of the prime reasons convicted felon and Vice President-elect Trump nominated him to be the next Secretary of Defense, even though he never commanded anything higher than a platoon (about 40-50 members).

But, it doesn't.

It does, it literally punishes competency. LOL

It is not a thing that needs a right-wing political culture to win.

Of course it does, there is a reason RW militaries always have been and always will be superior to the "Celebrate losers and fuck ups!!" leftoid culture.

There was no right-wing culture in the Red Army that kicked Hitler's ass.

They didn't kick Hitlers ass, they barely eeked out a grueling 'win' defined by barely not getting conquered, every German soldier was worth a dozen commies if not more. The absolute ass beating they dished out to pretty much everyone despite being a relatively small nation is a testament to both how advanced and fierce the Nazis actually were. Say whatever you want about their political and social ideas but lb for lb their military, in it's era, was objectively bad fuckin' ass.

DEI is a plague on the lethality of the military. The greatest example was one I saw today. While I was working out on the Air Force base in town, I saw a 5'2 250 black female fail her Physical fitness test to AIRFORCE(aka lowest standards). Instead of being correct, written up for it, punished in any way for failing to meet rock bottom Airforce standards, the tester just said: Well you can try again in 6 months but then you might get a letter in your jacket.

Following this through for civilians who don't know, essentially she can fail two physical fitness tests in 12 months before she even gets a black mark in her record. Likely she could fail 2 or 4 more before she even gets forced out of the Air Force. WTF VALUE DOES THIS PROVIDE. China or Russia invades tomorrow, what is the usefulness of this person?

In all honesty, the only thing she would provide is more work for the VA disability branch processing her "PTSD" because 100x "old-version white male military pack" died due to her incompetence and inability.

Without USA support, the Nazi s would still own Russia. The military's purpose is not to promote faux racism, its there to protect the USA and punish our enemys
