Private Investigator

Heard about a story on reddit about a wife who suspects her husband may be having an affair. She hires a private investigator (female) to follow him when he has to go on a business trip. Private investigator notifies her that he's not really doing anything out of the ordinary. Later on, she gets a call from the private investigator saying that her husband is at a bar. That he had spotted her and strike up a conversation with her, but nothing that was inappropriate. The wife was having doubts of her suspicion. Then the private investigator then suggested if she would allow her to flirt with her husband and see if he would do anything. The wife was reluctant but told her she had the ok to do so. After a while she heard back from the private investigator saying that she was able to seduce him to go back to her hotel.
This sounds very promising to be made into a very hot erotic story. Can this story be changed in a way to be so? I wonder if this could also work if the genders were switch, a husband who suspects his wife who hires a male private investigator.
Does this story hold any merit and how would it continue?

It sounds a bit like the story of a well-connected public figure recently appointed to a new job. Does it involve filming the encounter and distributing the tape also?

I like the idea, it has potential. Not sure where the POV should be, though. Probably easiest as a third-person view, or possibly with the PI.
If the PI slowly discovers that he is a really nice guy during her surveilance, and the wife is really the bad person, she might decide to ‘rescue’ him by way of seduction?
Or the PI could be bi and into the wife. Then she can first prove the husbands infidelity and then comfort the wife afterwards?
I’d keep the female PI, makes it more interesting IMO.
Next question is category. Is this a straight up erotic-coupling story? Is it a first time story with a young and inexperienced PI who’s still a virgin?
Did the PI choose her career because she’s a voyeur?
Lots more angles and twists to throw in here as well, just some random thoughts I had with my morning coffee.
Maybe the PI discovers the husband is a distant cousin that she had a crush on in her teens, and her surveillance of him awakens a buried, incestuous lust she can’t shake after stalking him for days?

It reminds me of an episode on Silk Stockings where people about to get married test their future husbands, or near husbands of their daughters by going to a service of sorts. That service sends really good looking women in to try and seduce these men. They meet at bars, tennis clubs, etc and feign it being a chance meeting, but its not, it is a test. The problem is, as they fail, the stakes become really high. Many of these men were marrying for money or power so in that show, it led to murder.

The story idea certainly has potential for eroticism though.

I used the example of women being used to test men because that was how the TV show depicted it, but it certainly could be men testing women too.

I had a similar idea a while back but never did anything with it. I've worked on it a little since for the Mike Hammer theme idea.

A woman suspects her husband may be cheating, so she hires a PI. The male PI has some women on staff and they are unable to get the husbands interest and conclude he is completely faithful.

The PI and wife meet periodically and find that they have a mutual attraction to each other. When he arrives at her home with the final report, of course they end up in bed. When finished and he is walking out the door he tosses the report to her. She realizes she was wrong about him as the PI closes the door.

I'm not happy with how the story came out so never submitted it. I do periodically look it over and work on it. Maybe one of these days I'll finish and post it.

This could go into the current "Hammered" (Micky Spillane inspired) set of stories.

You could have the PI succeed in seducing the spouse, and they have all sorts of rambunctious sex. Then in the end we find out that the PI was the wife (or husband) all along and they were just role-playing.
