Morning all,

I’m asking for a little wordy help.

I’m in the process of writing a story which mainly revolves around anal play and related activities. However, I’m struggling for alternatives for the word sphincter (which is a bit clinical for my taste).

I don’t like the word pucker, which seems to be a common one and I’m just reaching out to see what other people use.

I did see ‘balloon knot’ in someone else’s story recently, which I thought was fun, but I also don’t want to get repetitive seeing as I’ll be referring to said orifice on several occasions.

Thanks, as always

Hole
Anus
Arse/ass
Arse/ass hole
Butt/bum
Butt/bum hole
Ring
Rose bud
Backdoor
Rear entrance
Back love portal
Shitter
Exit ramp.

Some of these I've use, and some I haven't, that's what I can think of for now.

I have used general descriptors such as "something was pushing in where things before had only ever come out" or something like that.

I personally would be taken out of the story by most of the suggestions here (humorous as they are). In my eyes, @StillStunned has it right: simple words like "hole" work best, because they're neutral. If you're not going for a satirical tone, they can maintain the air of eroticism in a story. Plus, you shouldn't have to explain explicitly that you're talking about the "bum hole", because readers should know from context which orifice is being described. In most sentences, I think you could get away with simple, non-specific descrptions like "entered her/him", "pushed inside her/him", etc. We will know from context that the entry point in question is the arsehole. ;)

I think I used the term "cinnamon Cheerio" or maybe "cinnamon bagel" recently. I thought it was droll.

It fit that character.

Back door
Back alley
Tradesmen's entrance
Embarked on uphill gardening

If I'm not simply using hole or arse or arsehole, then 'tight hole', dark crack, shadowy crevice hiding a tiny dark tense ring...

If you need to describe the sphincter, that tight restriction, firm barrier, closed flesh that they need to willingly open up for you... "I need you to push out so I can push in" someone might say to guide their partner through it for a first time. If they know what they're doing, "the right place" "where it's extra good" etc.

Asshole. Anus. Pucker. Probably in that order of preference.

Honestly, the anal category is your friend. See how other authors handle this. If anyone catches you, just tell them it's research.

Just don't get too out of hand with the synonyms. It gets obvious after a while.

Shitter
Man pussy
Dirt box
Back alley

The list goes on and on but I would emphasize that using too many synonyms could distract from most stories. It is also important to use a synonym which is in keeping with the story and characters. I doubt a well-bred high class woman exploring anal sex for the first time would use most of the synonyms offered in this thread and certainly not ‘man pussy.’
