The problem with government solutions, like health care, is once it has been decided by consensus that the government is the solution to the problem and it fails to succeed in its stated goals and purpose, the persons of consensus have trouble admitting error of choice and if they were not wrong, they are smart people too, then the answer has to be just a little more government to correct the problems just made and this is a recursion from which you never return. This is where we have arrived today. It is a lot like the Thatcherite saying about Socialism and The Wealth of Nations (other people’s money).
When you are a part of this boondoggle you will do and say any and everything to maintain your position. I mean this in the fullest sense: your sense of reason, your position, appointment or hire, and most importantly, your political power. This is so much a part of the Ordeal of Change; the perceived loss of control. Thus we find the resistance to abolishing such egregious harms as the IRS and dubious edifices, benefits and services as Obamacare. The same goes for our educational system and the concept of a sound currency via the technology of blockchain instead of the antiquated near-Ponzi of Fiat Money and the heresy of MMT that always leaves you scrambling to progress and get barely ahead, if at all. There is a palpable fear of new ideas which are underlain by the temerity of doubt and the admission of error in judgement. We are all some very smart people.
It is a new world, a new century and there is a new sense in the air; we enjoy much more opportunity than oppression, past or future. It is a time for each and every person to turn away from their neighbor’s affairs and towards the future, our better futures. (It is for the children that we must be adults once again.) That is just what I think.
Stop worrying about “the victims.” They only get in the way of progress. In discussion they are unassailable. In dispersing collected wealth, their numbers grow. In times of war and conflict, concern over them prevents peace and merely serves to victimize them longer and much more thoroughly.
We are better than our government, so let this be our collective manifesto. Fix it. We are the select committee. Discuss.
