Given the immense cost in money, material, and manpower of a potential WW-III, NATO would be worth the cost even if we had to foot 100% of the bill. Indeed, the Ukrainians are stopping the Russians cold without the expenditure of a single American life. It's become a fascinating testbed for the efficacy of American arms and methods against the Russians. Arguably, had the Ukrainians not tied up the Russians (and killed a couple hundred thousand of them in the process), Assad will still be in power.
