Would the U.S. go to war to defend Taiwan?

Well, I hope not. But if there's a real "trade war," Taiwan might look to the PRC like a convenient way to retaliate/escalate.

Chna's policy is peaceful reunification. The issue is TSMC which is a strategic asset
Wouldn't even peaceful reunification be a headache? Consider how much trouble the PRC has had integrating Hong Kong into their system. What a poison pill Taiwan would be!

Because if some insane country where to go to war with the US, our ally , the COUNTRY of Taiwan would stand next to us.

Not during a Trump term will there be any defense of Taiwan. Once the US Navy patrols in the Taiwan Strait cease, China will take their cue from the end of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and quietly march in.

From all I've read, Taiwan does not even really need American protection -- the PRC could never take the island anyway, it's too well-defended.
