Once upon a time GW and GHW Bush were the great leaders of the republican party leaders beyond reproach. I can understand this both were war time presidents and as such their popularity soared for a short time. However, they never became the demigod Reagan has become.
Reagan never lost his luster which is odd considering some Reagan’s policies were in direct contrast to what republicans as a party say they hold dear, but that’s a story for another time..
I also find it weird that when someone like Taylor Swift voices a political stance the party of Reagan, Trump, Kid Rock, and Ted Nugent cry out, celebrities have no place in politics. But I digress.
Donald Trump a reality TV star who had absolutely no experience in politics, no concept of what this country stands for or what the Constitution is. Yet anyone republican from the Bush’s to McCain who disagrees with Trump is instantly labeled a rino or worst.
JFK is the closest thing democrats have as a demigod. Which is understandable a young president who ushered in the space age, was cut down far to soon leaving people to wonder what he could have accomplished if he lived. Basically he was killed before he had a chance to fuck up so he is golified.
Let me talk about other democrats I’ll start with Jimmy Carter arguable the worst modern democrat president. Yet is still beloved and admired by Americans of all parties because of his outstanding accomplishments after leaving office and more importantly his character as a man.. Carter’s efforts lead to the near-eradication of dracunculiasis, also called Guinea worm disease. The incidence of this disease has decreased from 3.5 million cases in the mid-1980s, to 25 cases in 2016, and 10 as of September 2021 according to the Carter Center's statistics. Which other president has helped eliminate a disease? Brokered several peace treaties? Not just said they were a Christian but lead a Christian life?
Bill Clinton a morally flawed man yet still is a great leader. He pushed for the internet to be expanded beyond the DoD and come into the home of every American. He was able to look past politics and lend a hand to the republicans when doing so would help his fellow Americans. Most democrats admire him for that. In fact because GW often enlisted Clinton and his father to use there unique experiences whenever he had a tricky diplomatic issue to solve or navigate..
Clinton and the Bush’s became so close that GHW Bush’s sons Jeb, GW, Neil referred to Bill as a brother by another mother. To which Bill said, “The only reason I’m so welcome by George and his brothers is because their mother wanted another president in the family.”, and Barbara Bush laughed.
To which Barbara quipped back, “Every family has one black sheep.”, and no one laughed harder than Bill and his brothers by another mother.
Now we come to Obama, and we all remember Michelle and GW sharing a cough drop and the eulogy of John McCain.. McCain the last of the real republicans. I still remember when McCain explained to a birthed that, “He is an American, a good family man, who I just have some fundamental political difference with.”
At that moment McCain was labeled a rino.. Whenever a democrat defends a republican or befriends a republican their fellow democrats didn’t disown Obama, Carter, Clinton they welcome it… They were not labeled a Dino.. So why whenever a republican merely disagree with which ever republican is popular at the time or heaven forbid they defend a democrat t hey are shunned and labeled a Rino? Why the stupid childish silly names?
