The first of the many avalanches has begun for China. The Shinzo Abe government of Japan has approved a stimulus package worth whopping 108.2 trillion yen (US$993 billion) – equal to 20 percent of Japan’s economic output – to cushion the impact of the epidemic on the world’s third-largest economy. Out of the total amount, it has earmarked US $2.2 billion to help its manufacturers shift production out of China.

220 billion yen ($2 billion) is pledged for Japanese companies shifting production back to Japan and the remaining 23.5 billion yen for those seeking to move production to other countries. The disruption in supply chains amidst the growing scare of the Wuhan virus and the damages incurred when the Coronavirus epidemic was at its peak in China has led Japan to take this radical step. China will lose a large number of jobs as a result of this move.

The Koreans were faster.

South Korean companies shift production out of China

SEOUL -- South Korean corporate giants Samsung Electronics, Hyundai Motor, Kia Motors and LG Electronics are moving production out of China, in an effort to reduce an overdependence that has left them vulnerable to a combination of local competition, geopolitical friction and economic headwinds hitting even the largest players hard.

"It's like they held out this long to avoid giving the Chinese government a bad impression, but now they can't take it anymore," said a source at a major Japanese financial institution that frequently deals with South Korean companies.

Let's hope the (R)'s and Trump protect us when the (D)'s no doubt move to prevent and or punish US companies from doing the same for their CCP masters. :D

Unfortunately after 30 years on the planet, I have realized that they are all in bed with each other.

Thus call it the China Virus

Yes, there will be a priced to be paid by the stinking Communist Rulers of China that are directly responsible for this pandemic. They have harmed people and economies all over the world. Calling the virus COVID-19 fails to identify the source of the problem and therefore softens the blow on the Communists running China.

So, pin the tail on the donkey. Call it what it is. THE CHINA VIRUS.

Viruses are enemies of mankind. Calling it one thing or the other is not helpful.

Identification is helpful

Viruses are enemies of mankind. Calling it one thing or the other is not helpful.

Identification is helpful. To cure any illness the source of the problem needs to be identified. For example, if a person has a bad cough and the cause is lung cancer it is important that the attending physician identifies the source of the cough. Otherwise any efforts are just treating symptoms.

In this case the Communist Government in China (not the Asian people) is the source of the disease. Like a cancer on humanity the whole world needs to really understand the malignant nature of communism and all the horror that it triggers.

All of the efforts at social distancing and throwing money at the problem are just treating the symptom. The actual disease that is CAUSING the problem is the nasty form of government in China. Calling the Virus the China Virus puts a spotlight on the source and helps trigger the treatment needed.

Nothing like herd economic seppuku, eh?

It will have unintended consequences.

If it is, why do the Mennonites back in KANSAS
always up their orders by 50% because of
the failure rate and shoddy workmanship?

They aren't ordering complex machinery...

*chuckle*

They are obviously bad at giving instructions. :)

My last iPhone had to be replaced with my current iPhone
and that was day one.

I'll give you this - they are experts at reverse-engineering
and the theft of intellectual properties even if
their manufacturing is shit.

Why didn't you say "nigger" this time? Are you growing a conscience? That seems unlikely given your underlying pathologies.

Did Aglo's thread and the near universal condemnation by the board have an actual impact?

No, he still regularly calls me a gook when he can't argue his anti-American political positions on their merit.

Not a radical step at all, there is nothing new in this. Japan has been the most over protected of all the worlds major economies for years. They have particularly effective non tariff obstacles. They kept their heads down when Trump put tariffs on China but they are probably worse in their many obstructions.

One small example. After many years Japan agreed that USA could export rice to Japan. But only a miniscule amount of 50,000 tons pa. And it had to be blended with Japanese rice in specified proportions. That had to be done in Japan and as a kicker the USA had to share that 50,000 tons with other western producers such as Australia.

I had a read a book in which it said a housewife in Tokyo paid more for a Toyota than a housewife in California (after taxes and tariff). I was shocked to learn this, I tell you.

They protect their own interest.

Nothing wrong with that.
