No it doesn’t. Meritocracy promotes creativity, self reliance, self accountability and competitive behavior and spirit.

Populism can be feigned, like it is by Trump. He ran as though he was concerned by those left behind in the 21th century economy. His first significant act was to cut taxes for the rich. Shortly after doing that he went to his Mar a Lago estate, and told his rich friends, "I just made you a lot richer."
