They immediately become the fifth largest city in Louisiana
Gives me hope that one day that the city Houston can secede from Texas and become it's own state.
It'd immediately become the 26th largest state in the US and have a larger land area than Connecticut and Rhode Island.

In a vote held on Thursday, City Council members approved a resolution by a margin of 10-1, directing the Austin police to deprioritize the Texas law that prohibits certain treatments for transgender-identifying minors as their lowest enforcement priority.
The resolution states that the city will not utilize personnel, funds, or resources to investigate, prosecute, or impose penalties on transgender or nonbinary individuals seeking healthcare, nor on individuals or organizations providing or assisting with the provision of such healthcare.
Additionally, the resolution affirms that the city will not restrict eligibility for city funding, including grants or contracts, based on a group's proclivities toward encouraging or facilitating sex changes for minors.

It's Baton Rouge, not New Orleans but in effect that is what's going on. The city of Baton Rouge was the primary beneficiary of the St. George tax base. Initially all St. George wanted was their own school district. The city fought them on that. So St. George decided to take it to the next level and get a divorce via incorporation and the city fought them on that too. Now that they've been incorporated the city is filing papers for a "do over."Looks like the non-productive sectors of New Orleans went too far in their attempts to steal from the productive so they left to form their own community and government.
