Wow. This is a shocker from the World Cup and I'm grateful for Pink News spotting it. The BBC has been under the spotlight a good deal for its anti trans and anti LGBT attitude but I never thought they employed such asshole journalists. WTF

'During a Women’s World Cup press conference before Morocco’s opening game against Germany on Monday (24 July), a reporter from the BBC asked captain Ghizlane Chebbak: “In Morocco, it’s illegal to have a gay relationship. Do you have any gay players in your squad and what’s life like for them in Morocco?”
The press conference moderator refuted the question, saying it was “political” in nature and reporters should “just stick to questions relating to football”.

There are further articles in PN that highlight the perception that 'all female football players are lesbians' when a more accurate figure is 12% of players. The slur sticks and teachers and players note that men and boys regularly accuse female players of being gay, just at a time when we're trying to encourage girls to play the game.
