Sex synonyms in dialogue

I'm writing my smut story (oh sorry, "erotica") and I'm trying not to use the same words all the time. There are plenty of good synonyms for cock, pussy, cum, etc. The problem arises when using those words in dialogue between characters. What does someone say besides pussy when they're saying "Eat my pussy?" Nobody in real life says "Eat my snatch / box / hole". Same with cum. Real people say "I'm cumming" not "I'm splooging / climaxing." Admittedly, my personal experience is limited, but I have to assume that even the most prodigious sex-havers have a relatively static vocabulary in the spoken word.

Well, if she’s a hooker, she’ll be saying, “Faster! Faster!” and if she’s a girlfriend, she’ll be going, “Harder! Harder!” and if she’s a wife, she’ll be saying, “Beige! I think I’ll paint the ceiling beige!”

Of course, if it’s a man, he’ll say nothing and just go to sleep after.

😉

Rules applied to repetition in prose can probably be ignored in dialog. People repeat themselves all the time when speaking.

But you don’t need to use any actual parts of the body words. “Eat me!” from an FMC is probably kinda obvious.

“I want you in me” is unlikely to refer to her earhole.

I don't think that for common (at least to erotica) terms, you have to pull out the thesaurus for each use. For each series or story, pick your preferred term and stick to it. If your character(s) call it, "cum" use that for the majority of times and then supplement with "it" as appropriate. If another character or at a single specific time, the character uses another term, that's fine. So a couple might discuss "cum" repeatedly but then the wife might say, "but that was a tremendous splooge you left behind."

Well, lets assume it is a woman who is requesting her pussy be eaten....
"Does she have to say anything other than "Eat me."
It may or not have a please, but it doesn't need explanation.
The same could be said for a man requesting fellatio.
"Suck me."
Advice I was given....
Only offer the absolute minimum... Let the readers fill in the gaps.

As Emily said, you don't have to refer to the body part. Once sex scenes get to a certain point "me" can just about stand in for "my genitalia". "Eat me", "Lick me", "I need your mouth/tongue on me,", "suck me", etc,.

But also, real people are strange. They have quirks, hangups, strange vocabulary, and can have their own pet euphemisms, or blurt out weird things in the heat of the moment. I had an IRL girlfiriend use "hole" once, unironically. And sometimes people say weird things playfullly.

Or, Dirk *Camacho*, you can have the girl say, "Cum, it's what sluts crave".

In dialogue a character is prone to use the same term over and over again. It's just how we talk. Some variety is good in the narrative, but even there, it can be distracting if you are always finding a different way for saying something. Listen to how people talk. Most of them don't have a thesaurus-style vocabulary.

As long as it's not annoying or distracting, as in twice a sentence, I'm a big believer in using simple words, even if it is repetitious. I think there's a time to wax poetic in stories, but for the most part, I like whatever gets my point across the best. Cutesy words are what I feel becomes truly grating.

Something else to consider is what would the character say? If they're innocent, it might be "unmentionables" or "privates." I think in the right context, that can be as stimulating as cock and pussy since it's all about getting in that character's head to experience the scene vicariously rather than describing it dirty. But also, grain of salt since I'm not someone who enjoys porn talk.

I think it's more important to describe the emotions and experience rather than the act itself, so whether it's cock or weiner or flippity-do-dad, that's the least part of a sex scene. The eroticism comes from the words before it.

To answer more directly, mostly I stick to cock, dick, or penis. Vaginas are easier since they have more anatomy. But again, does the character even know it or care about the proper terms or is it all just a pussy to them?

Thanks for the reminder. That's really the meat of what fantasy and erotica are all about.

Unless it's about the fucking and sucking. :)

It's kind of like trying to come up with different ways of avoiding 'said'. By trying to not be repetitive, you draw unnecessary attention to it.

People in the throes of some significant experience in life tend to use pretty small vocabularies. I'm assuming the character is your story are experiencing a relatively significant feeling, so they'll say what comes to mine. Usually those words are their pet words or phrases, and they'll repeat them over and over.

Also, in my also limited experience, most women wouldn't say something like, "Eat me", or "Eat my pussy". Instead they'd use words that give their partner a hint. I've used, "special kisses" before. Sometimes just actions can substitute for words, as when she pushes his face gently down between her thighs. Most men wouldn't need any words to understand what she wants.

Men are the same. The stereotypical male character who says, "Suck it, bitch", probably wouldn't get a repeat performance with that woman even if she did what he wanted the first time. If he asked nicely, like saying, "If I do you, would you return the favor", will probably get what he wants as well as get the chance for more fun and games.

You need to get out more, hun 🤣

You could hang a lampshade on it by pointing out in narration how repetitive the character is being.

Or just not have them be repetitive by referring to it over and over.

I use pussy and cock all the time, and sprinkle a few different words in the dialogue. Currently I think it's strange to use different words in my prose - it's distracting and a little embarrassing. So I stick to pussy and cock. And hole.
