Michigan Roll Call

Weather is rather humid and overcast but not hot. Lots of negative ions here, which strangely is usually a good feeling for me.

I hate humid weather. The thermostat in the house reads 71, which is low enough that the air doesn't kick in, but I'm still sweating like a butcher...

Anyone going to the St. Andrew's Highland Games in Livonia this weekend? Love big, burly men throwing heavy stuff around, and the sound of pipes skirling through the air...and the dancers in bustiers (okay, waistcoats--you have your fantasies, I'll have mine).

I remember my canoeing days. The Au Sable was one of my favorites; the other was the Pere Marquette. Beautiful rivers, both.

It's kind of scary, about what's happening in Toledo, anyone know how it's affecting the water tables there?

My understanding is that the problem isn't the water table (aquifer), but rather the water intakes from Lake Erie.

The groundwater isn't affected, just the lake water.

What happened to summer? Last walk thru the shop and I swear it's fall now. Cool, rain, overcast.....

Yeah, same here. Feels kinda nice, actually...but then, I'm a fan of fall weather.
I hope this front drives down the humidity.

I'm good with the weather myself but warmer would have been nice

So a general question to lower Michigan:
Anyone go outside last night and see the International Space Station go by? I think it was around 10pm when we saw it. The sky was just clear enough to get to see the lights going. Pretty cool to see.

Hello everyone. I haven't been on here in a longtime. Wondering if there are others from Michigan here?

Grand Rapids here

Hello fellow Michiganders.

Looking forward to getting more acquainted with a few of you.

Hello Eric. :)

Space station went by again last night in the Detroit area at 9:15 pm. Sky was clear enough to get a good time tracking it across the sky. Wish I had a telescope. We had about 10 or so people standing in the drive looking for it

Happy Friday all.

Kids are running a 5k Saturday. Off work early tomorrow to go cheer them on

Good morning, eric. Another Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood...

Gotta start on painting the deck tomorrow. Not looking forward.

Anyone planning on seeing the Ypsi air show? They trot out all the old warbirds from the Yankee Air Museum and fly them around.

I've had a B-17 and two P-51 Mustangs flying escort passing over my house at various times for the last two days; they're 'test-driving' them to check them out before the show.

The air show sounds cool. The air base by me has shows sometimes and it's always cool to see all the older planes out flying over the water.

Last year they had a B-24 Liberator fly in from somewhere. That's the one Ford built the Willow Run plant to produce. Sadly, the Yankee Museum doesn't have one.

Always seemed a shame to me that the air museum at a bomber plant doesn't have one of the bombers they built at the plant. But there are only a few of them left, and they all belong to someone else. Maybe someday...

I'm headed up to the mitten next week for the NASCAR race, going to be staying out on the lake. Time can't go by fast enough! :)

sun vs gray

Oddly enough, I find my most productive days are when the sun is shining outside. When the weather is grey and gloomy--like today--I don't feel like doing anything.

I've been that way ever since I was in school; I just couldn't study on rainy, gloomy days. Nothing stuck with me. But give me a bright, sunny day outside, and I could write a 50-page paper.

Weird.

Not weird at all - I think a lot of folks, including myself, are like that. Not enough sunlight to the eyes. How was that kilt-wearing commando thing? Comfy? Breezy? heehee
