Mandy seemed a little different but James didn’t connect the dots. How could anyone? Instead he chalked it up to one bad night. At least pizza and something without alcohol would be able to clear her head. Or at least he hoped. He wasn’t sure he’d be able to contend with a stupefied sister, though he would prefer more of his dates that way.
“A cheap date, huh?” he looked at her with a slight, teasing grin. “Maybe I should ask you out sometime. It’d save me a lot of money. But you’d have to bring over one of your friends at the end of every night.”
Glancing toward the sink he returned his gaze onto her, “Water? Well, you know where the sink is. I never officially asked you out so you’re not really my date and I don’t really have to fetch you water.” He laughed at her. But then she fell silent, asking that ‘what’ question.
“So what is wrong with you? You’re seeming distant?” Then with that he turned on his phone, letting it start up before he ordered the pizza.
