There’s a lot of good ideas here… I’d say maybe take a number of them into consideration?

First, set it up so the MC has no idea how the found the beach (maybe set it on an island?). It could be there was some sort of mystic relic involved that teleported him there.

I like the idea that there is a curse where the MC is transformed into a woman… but maybe there’s a way to avoid the curse? Like if he doesn’t act like a selfish prick only out for his own pleasure, or if he limits the number of women he has sex with in a certain time period, something like that. Make it clear that all the women there used to be men, and in order for them to be changed back and sent home, they have to have sex with a certain number of men, which helps them understand what it’s like for their previous partners when they were selfish? Some of the transformed men might first think, “Cool, I’ll be a lesbian then” but knowing that all the women used to be men (plus it had no effect on the curse) makes that less desirable.

This has a ton of potential. Guy is on vacation in the Caribbean, rents a sail boat, takes it out for the day, maybe he just plans to sail around the island. Finds a hidden beach. Sexy time ensues. It gets late in the day, he has to take the boat back so he leaves, exhausted. Tries to come back the next day and he can't find the place.

If the beach itself has to be magic and the girls have to be normal humans (which I take it also precludes an isolated Amazon tribe without men, or the Brigadoon scenario where the whole place is hidden by/only accessible via magic), that really limits your options.

What if there's the magical equivalent of an oil spill, with an aphrodisiac drifting in on the waves? (Maybe from an accident at an undersea, mer-folk factory?) Alternatively, a magical "weather" event, something akin to a hurricane on the magical plane, may be heightening the aphrodisiac effect for a limited period of time.

Or a lock-and-key situation, where the beach magic only activates with the right trigger. For example, the MC is wearing a necklace that is an old family heirloom of his great-great-great-grandfather who survived a shipwreck on a deserted island (and escaped in a mysterious way), and he's now going back there to see the place his ancestor lived, which in the mean time has been developed as a holiday resort. (The return of the necklace activates the magic.)

Or a "blessed by a goddess" scenario, where he e.g. rescues a dolphin that turns out to be the nymph of this beach, and she grants him special powers within her domain (without his knowledge).

Another variation is the Overlook Hotel explanation from The Shining, where the book explains that at other times the hotel is just a bit spooky, "mildly haunted," but that Danny's psychic abilities ramp up the supernatural phenomena in a kind of resonance.

Right now, I'm toying with an idea where a guy visits a beach, not knowing that it's enchanted such that the babes there basically throw themselves at him. But of course, if such a beach really did exist, its reputation would spread quickly and it would soon be overwhelmed with horny guys. My vision for this beach is that it has a very small ratio of guys to girls.

The beach is sentient or governed by a magical force that is very much sentient. It intentionally hides it from those that are "unworthy" and even if the guy would try and tell people it's there or bring them to it, people would react like he's talking about Atlantis and his second trip would just lead nowhere.

I toyed with such an idea in a setting of mine called "Land between the Rivers" where it's not just casual sex, it's literal porn logic warping the laws of physics. For many reasons, many outside would want to find it, but the only way in is via a bridge that only the worthy... as in the perverted enough... see, and attempts to bring someone else would fail. As would attempts to bring anyone who might wish to harm it, or if you want to harm that place you just black out and wake up outside it.

But, back to your original idea... going on that, the jackpot is that ever so often that beach gets thirsty for men, maybe it is in fact an escape for women and whenever they feel a bit horny for the D, a man comes along and of course they're thirsty like hell because this is the first human penis owner they saw in a while. Up to you if it leads to bad ends of the dude getting sacrificed to maintain the whole woman purity once they get their rocks off or he lives there happily ever after, impregnating every woman and breeding a new generation of girls that will one day thirst for the penis and want someone else other than their dad.

Make the McGuffin unique and/or very hard to attain. Make the McGuffin carry some sort of threat to the user. Make it a combination of both. Possibilities abound.

Yeah, I'm wrestling with this, too; and I'm thinking of the beach being just a meeting place, rather than the site where the relationships are typically consummated.

BTW, beaches are sexy in the sense that they're places where sexy people tend to show off what their mommas gave them in skimpy swimwear. So, in that sense, all the beach really needs to do with its magic is to cultivate a decision between two people to have sex. It doesn't need to be the site of the sex.

I wouldn't worry about it, unless you're going for hyperrealistic, or unless you want to introduce the intimacy of people sharing little frustrations during sex.

The stories we write here are fantasies. We don't bother with trying to sort out knees and elbows, or when your hand cramps up because you've had your weight on it too long, or when the damn cat decided your back is the perfect place for a nap just when you're on top of your wife. You can hand-waive all those things, and sand in awkward places is one of them.

As a reader, based on your earlier pitch, I'm immediately questioning why a plentitude of women are at the viper beach to sex with.

The women are the snakes, obviously. Get some lamias and gorgons up in there, petrification optional.

Other than that, you could throw other supernatural phenomena in there which isn’t quite so nice to the male sex as an all-the-girls-want-you field. Maybe our guy gets to enjoy it because he’s the only one who sticks around after, say, the all-the-insects-want-you phase of the magic.

They get the women, treasure, fame, more women and for the female characters, more men because they ARE the main character. You set them apart from NPCs and you make them attractive or they have a quality not seen in the town or city where they are, and that attracts the lovers. You don't need magic for that.

Subotai didn't get Valeria simply because he wasn't the main character. Conan was. Get the point?

When you write ANY story, your main character is the focus. The fantasy world zeroes in on him or her. Everything happens to the main character UNLESS you deem it otherwise.

I actually did this basic premise once before. Worked very well, but I'm hoping to do this story a bit differently if I can.

I already considered this - specifically, I was thinking that the beach could be a notorious breeding ground for a venomous species of snake. At first, that might explain why my guy is one of only a handful of people who ends up at this beach. But then the idea lost its luster for me.

I have relations who are avid international travelers, and the various hazards of 'exotic' countries don't deter them. Hazardous wildlife, notorious thievery problems, unsanitary food that's guaranteed give you the runs... nothing phases them. They get off on "breaking out of their comfort zones", as they put it.

So even with the snake problem, you'd still end up with plenty of gung-ho adventurers visiting this place. And, as others have pointed out, once its acquired a reputation as being a hot spot for horny babes, its guaranteed to see a massive influx of traffic.

(note: a full moon happened on the 22nd. of June in 1986, 2005 and will again this year) On that day women are inextricably pulled to that average unloved beach. By late afternoon the beach is lined with women relaxing in the sun.

Meanwhile our male protagonist has some life crisis, a lost job, a lost girl, something that makes him want to get away. He remembers a tall tale told to him by his uncle about a beach he went to as a young man that was full of women. I would also weave into the story that the uncle had visited the beach for the next ten years on the 22nd of June but never encountered the like again.

So our young man sets off for the beach with the thought of spending time by himself ruminating on the unfairness of life. But also wondering about that story his uncle told him. Unknown to him, since it's a full moon and the 22nd. of June it will be full of women waiting for..they aren't sure what they are waiting for but they know something is going to happen. And when he arrives on the beach they understand what it is they have been waiting for.
