Dear authors…. I’m a cis woman and a lesbian and I only read stories involving sex scenes with men if the story is really, really, really good. Fucking is one thing, but blowjobs make me throw up in my mouth a little. Over time, ive refined how I look for totally or primarily lesbian stories. Part of that is that I’m happy to read stories by authors who identify as trans, or gender fluid, or non-binary, etc. because I’ve found some fantastic stories that way. In all honesty, too many truly straight male authors write crap lesbian stories. At least they are for true lesbians. I’m sure they’re great for men who are looking for that classic, ridiculous, lesbian fantasy where two women are enjoying each other fully but it becomes SO much better when the man shows up. Sigh..gimme a break…The thing is this. If you’re trans, or non binary, or identify differently, please say so. I realize there’s a lot of needless hate in this world, and trans rights have a long ways to go, and I support you fully. But you have to support yourself first. Gay rights began evolving when gays refused to stay in the closet anymore. Trans, etc rights will be the same. Anonymity is key here, so please take that first step and step out of your closet, cause some of you haven’t. I’m reading your stories and i support you, and I’m sure I’m not alone.

Unfortunately a sizeable proportion of trans story at Lit are fetish, pure and simple and, since you're not keen on dick, they really aren't going to be your thing.
As things stand atm being trans and out isn't necessarily safe and I understand why a trans author might prefer to stay anonymous or at least hide their status. I feel accepted at Lit and I've seldom seen transphobic sentiment outside of the Politics forum, so maybe there just aren't that many of us around?
Having said that, I can think of some trans authors at Lit, but you might need to search their profile to discover that, because a story doesn't carry tags to describe the sexuality of an author, only a description of the story content.
My protagonists are chips off the block and I'd struggle to write anything but a trans woman authentically.

So many of the stories written by men are porn fueled garbage. They do not reflect reality in any way, shape or form, just the warped fevered imaginations of their authors. In fact many of them are honest about the fact that they know absolutely nothing about what they are writing. Their stories are super popular.

Nothing wrong with fantasy but jeez, the obsession with dick dick dick is unrelenting. The porn industry is 100% tapped into the concept that "trannies" are cute men with tits. I could rant on but ... it's a porn site, so...

I agree completely about fantasy but in this case the fantasies are completely unhinged. An author who writes transgender stories but who has NEVER met a transgender person in their entire life? What else can their stories be about except porn nonsense?

I have seen that trans stories written by authors who do understand the pain involved living as trans are recognized and well received by trans readers. There will always be guys who write pure porn for immediate gratification. I just hope more understanding will come along. Life does change. People change. I truly hope this subject will change also. After reading the responses, I understand why trans authors arent jumping out of the closet. It’s a shame.

Nothing about being trans is simple and we are not a monolith with a single set of aims. Even on a sex site where fetish and dick worship are king there are still good stories written with empathy and a passable knowledge of facts.
Lit doesn’t distinguish between purely fantasy bs and stories with one foot in reality. Dare I say that mine belong to the latter category? Have a look at my Goalposts story which fit that description or the Under…. series and let me know what you think:)

I’m a straight man who has often written comfortably and convincingly from the female perspective. I have written about bisexuality and alien sexuality but not gotten deep into trans relationships. I’m not sure I would ever be comfortable doing that. I admire authors who make the attempt and succeed.

As for Cis vs Trans and other pronoun related issues, I’m constantly confused and stymied by this issue. I even created a spoof character that rejects all pronouns other than I or you and occasionally others (the character might change their preferences the next time you ask). This character drives Grammar Nazis crazy. It’s intentional.

You're comparing apples to oranges and I'm surprised you've done that. Irritation with the whole damned trans thing maybe? You wouldn't be the first.

For the record
Cisgender is not a new term, nor does it oblige the cisgender majority to do or act any differently. As I'm sure you're aware, it simply means you are not transgender. You're sense of gender matches your biology. Hurray, lucky you.

Pronouns
( Caveat: This is just my personal opinion ... opinion and I'll accept many trans and non-binary folk disagree. )
Remember how in the 1970s young guys grew their hair long? In the 1990s they stuck safety pins through their noses, in the 2000s they started staring into their phones, going to raves and using Ecstasy. The indignation over pronouns is just another wet finger in the ear of society - and it's working isn't it?! ;)

I've no idea what the next thing will be, but I suppose in my early thirties, I'll be the target of 'You wouldn't understand!'
In the meantime, be cool Mr Achtung - give a shrug and say 'whatever'. Be considerate of the people in your sphere that might prefer him, her or zir but otherwise carry on being a decent cis.

I will try, stickygirl, I will try. In the meantime I hope I will be forgiven for occasionally venting my frustration. It’s not easy to accept new gender norms sometimes… particularly from certain celebrities I completely thought were fine with opposite personas to what they later became. All joking aside, I also am a fan of people who have been trans from early in life like Kim Petras and writers who have portrayed it positively and realistically like Rick Riordan. I’m still making the acceptance journey, I guess. I am curious what will happen if I ever get a transgender or gender fluid person in my immediate friends or family. Hopefully they will help me adjust my perspective as needed. It’s a life I can’t easily imagine and that says a lot if you know me. Not saying more for now.

In other news, you just taught me a new word. “Zir”. I’d never heard that term before. I had to look up the definition- a pronoun for a person of unclear gender. I like it. I’m making that my spoof character Silvan’s pronoun next time I write that character. Hope people are cool with that and I use it right. A millennia old immortal faerie alien hybrid with godlike powers and a genie complex who has frequently changed zir gender identity for perspective since ze have trouble comprehending love even though ze feel it unconditionally, same for other human emotions… this should be interesting to say the least.
